    You guys are fab!
I love those ideas, I think I will have to make some of those sauces first to test them you understand, for scientific purposes... :)

Thanks all. Book and journal jar are looking good. Only one silly mistake where I wrote a poem in the book and realised I had written it upsidedown :(
Has anyone tried taking a spiral bound book apart and putting it together again? If I cover the whole book I would have to do this and I am not sure I can be bothered ;)

sian - when you say 'spiral bound' do you mean like metal rings down the spine ? If so is there another page you could write the poem on and tear the upside down one out ? Or will that spoil it all............you could always call it the 'upside down verse' I suppose...........lol

I've covered two more shoe boxes ready for christmas for my two sons -got some wrapping paper from local music shop and covered one with guitar type and one with drums.............worked out ok
Fiished off youngest sons 'mug cosy' -had to cut out card cup shape and put in it otherwise he'd wonder what the heck it was:rotfl:

Was going to do so much more today then OH couldn't find his mobile phone -he hardly ever uses it (I bought it the other christmas just in case of emergency) he hates phones of all sorts but was getting in such a state cos he couldn't find it  I looked and neither of us could remember where he'd put it. Tesco Direct have some cheapies...........rang out local store and had they got one ? - 'no'................I've got my old one he can use -just needs a sim card. Oh eck..........whole afternoon looking for a phone he doesn't really want...............:rotfl:

    Sorry -totally off topic there.............lol

Thanks Mary, it is spiral bound so I would have to wind the whole wire through, might not bother and just leave a border around the cover, it is a nice 'brown paper' style book. I tore the poem out and will fold it in half and glue it in, can't be bothered to write it out again! It is the poem "warning" by Jenny Joseph, really nice poem

sian - I know the poem........someone sent it me ages ago but I didn't know what it was called .
There's another one-forget what thats called as well but it starts off
If I had my time to live over I would pick more daisies............lovely poem.

Now...........need ideas of what to do with half a dozen bamboo poles (not thick ones) about 18" tall.............couldn't resist them at 50p now could I.................:rotfl:

Rest of the morning was fruitless...........was after a small puzzle book -they''re all big ones - and one of those Chicken Soup for the soul books to put in MIL's tea break hamper.
Have to order off iinternet I expect - oh eck.......computers going all weird aggain:confused::confused::confused:

Thanks for that poem idea Mary, it's really lovely, will put it in the book

The only things I can think of for the bamboo are to train vegetables/flowers up or use to make into a banner where one is through the top and another through the bottom, will have a think...

I wonder, given the huge amount of stuff on the internet, whether you could make up your own puzzle book? print off some puzzles and stick them in a book or just bind them somehow?

sian - don't think MIL would like a 'home made' puzzle book. She likes the daily express ones but she might end up having daily mail instead..........there's three of them lurking in the charity shop in town..........lol
I've got some 'mum' books that I bought for my mum a few years back - in perfect condition - so MIL might end up with a couple of those as well.
She's got quite an assortment of china mugs so seems daft to get her yet another one.
So far she'll be having either Breakfast tea or Afternoon tea (maybe both)
pack of shortbread, pack of biscuits, tea cup coaster (1st attempt at cross stitch ! Doesnt sound like much does it.......maybe by the time I put a couple of little books of 'Things your Mother Said' and one of the others I've got, it'll look more interesting.

Hi, I haven't ever posted but have lurked for a while reading all your crafty threads. I have had an idea for some presents that involves covering notebooks but having googled I have no idea whether paper or fabric is better and found it hard to find somewhere with idiot-proof instructions!

I have a very small, basic sewing machine that I can use but it can't do anything heavy duty. Does anyone have a link to a site with simple instructions?

Also is fabric or paper better?

Hi Lazy sheep! Welcome along :)
Not sure I know as you can read from my comments.
I think ideally fabric would be nice and longer lasting but I am not sure how to do it. Sure someone else will...
