Thanks for the link maria...........I'll have a look at that. I've always shied away from using fabric as never sure what glue to use and don't want to make total bodge up. Bought some cheap notebooks at a boot fair (25p) cheap enough to have a try with.

Welcome lazysheep..........hope this reply goes on ok........third attempt -some reason the 'submit reply' button wouldn.t work:confused:

Thanks maria, that looks simple enough even for me to play around with! All the others I had seen in fabric involve a lot of sewing and a lot more material and as it's only for a little something as a part of a present I don't want all that fuss!

And thanks to everyone else for my welcome... very friendly bunch in here :D

maria - had a look at the link...........looks lovely how its done like that but I'm so c**p at sewing.................when I've covered books with paper I just stick a piece to fit the back and front -normally been spiral bound ones.
The cheapie books I've got aren't spiral so think I might try sticking fabric on the front and back and stick some ribbon down the spine.
I've got some lovely cream suedette material but I frightened to use it.......I just know I'll muck it up..:rotfl:

Hey lovely people. 2 things I need inspiration for...

    1) a friend has asked me to make a decorated notebook, I don't really want to cover a book as I don't think I can do it neatly but any ideas on a nice way of decorating a pretty plain one? I was thinking of writing some lovely quotes through it on the edges and bottom of pages too.

    2) I want to make a desserts/ice cream hamper for a friend, any ideas on something I can create to put in it so that it has a crafted element to it?

    Thanks!

Finally finished the Journal Jar for my dads 60th birthday. It doesn't quite look the way I had planned though.
My mum sadly passed away unexpectedly two weeks ago and it kind of took the joy and energy of crafting away.....but in a way it also made it more important then ever to finish making it.

    Thanks x

The label is made out of cardboard. Drew the picture and painted it with the kids water colours, then wrote on top (it's my own handwriting) Then laminated it and stuck it on to the jar (old Hellmans mayonnaise jar) using glue dots.

The pictures of the birds is not my idea, saw it here http://bubblyfunk.typepad.com/bubbly_scrumptious/journal-jars-and-notebooks.html
