Going to have to take the plunge and fill up the tank... been calling around and looking online, the cheapest I can find is Redons on Doagh Rd at £539 for 900 or £309 for 500

  • We got oil yesterday from Value Oils, £307 for 500litres. Nicholl Oils was £2 or so cheaper but you had to order online which isn't the problem the £2.50 cc charge is!

    Jaime - from Mekins.
MIL ordered it so I don't know if discount is for everyone or just long standing customers.

Where abouts are you? I'm seeing 534 online but hayes would only go to 541 (I must have ordered 5 or 6 times from them in the last few years).

Boilerjuice has it's buying weekend this weekend - anyone any experience (does buying weekend bring much discount & who are their 3 suppliers in Belfast)?

I think Carlisle fuels are one, and maybe Nicholls. Not sure who else

Ive got discount using Boiler Juice Buying Weekend, but is only pence, i think last time 30p for buying 500litre, so not really worth it if you see a cheaper price.
  • Has the oil came down a wee bit or am I imagining it, £305 for 500 litres with Meekin in Templepatrick?

The last time I ordered 500 (granted a few years back) I paid £96:eek:  so I don't reckon its down much:confused:

£300 is about average for 500 everywhere:eek:  I'm sticking to burning peat and hoping the temperature keeps up;)
I am trying, honest;) very trying according to my dear OH:rotfl:

how long would 50kg of coal last debs?
If I lit a fire every evening - about a week or less. 2 Bags doesn't last long in winter as I light fire during day if I'm off or kids are home.
At moment I'm only lighting fire an odd night if we're chilly. Still haven't bought oil since April.
Someone said the other day it worked out cheaper to buy oil by going down to Pattersons in Omagh and filling up a 60 - 80 litre drum rather than having a delivery ???? Not sure what the charges are at the moment.

The joys of having a moss, ive enough peat and trees to keep me well heated for 20 years, just need to top up every now and then with a load of coal. The mosses have been dead for a few years people will soon be going back in. At the moment its costing me under £5 a week to keep a 5 bedroom house heated
