At the moment its costing me under £5 a week to keep a 5 bedroom house heated
I know of a few that are back on the moss this year, esp those poor sods who have had their oil stolen
Im thinking about getting a bank myself and working it, as I can see oil prices being high for the next few years and I have elderly parents who need the heat on daily - three fills a year on average :eek:0 -

If I lit a fire every evening - about a week or less. 2 Bags doesn't last long in winter as I light fire during day if I'm off or kids are home.
At moment I'm only lighting fire an odd night if we're chilly. Still haven't bought oil since April.
Someone said the other day it worked out cheaper to buy oil by going down to Pattersons in Omagh and filling up a 60 - 80 litre drum rather than having a delivery ???? Not sure what the charges are at the moment.
The last time I phoned Pattersons for a quote they were the dearest and wanted payment on delivery or before. :eek:0 -
Can anyone tell me what is "the moss"? I've obviously been living on another planet because I've never heard of this before.Member #7 SKI-ers Club

Its the term used for going up the bogs to cut turfs (well here up the NW it is )
Art - the turfs are being stolen from here as well. My friend is having to bag up and bring down in one hit - time consuming but better then losing them0 -
Morgan Oils (craigavon/portadownlurgan/gilford/banbridge direction possibly more?) quote today:

I just looked back at the old thread. The cheapest oil on 25/01/2005 was 23.3p/ltr. 62p/ltr is really scary.0

Slightly OT but has anyone seen a lock I could fit to my oil tank? It's the conventional plastic type with a thin bar "locking" the flap down. Even if the bar was locked the hinge could be easily broken.Dave0

Dave... I have a lock on mine and the last time I had a Delivery of oil, the Delivery driver said that in general, locks are a bit of a waste of time particularly on Plastic tanks. If a person comes to steal your oil they'll come kitted out and a lock will be the least of his worries. they'll actually cut a hole in the tank... A lock is OK for an opertunistic thief who may syphone out a few litres into a Gerry Can so the bar & padlock would be OK for that. I would suggest a Big German Shephard... Mine is 45Kg and not to be messed with.... He keeps folk's away from my garden!!Live, Love & Laugh A Lot!0
