We paid just shy of £500 inc vat for 1000litres on 7th April. Don't need more, thankfully, but still keeping eye on prices as was considering another 1000litres to havefor winter as prices likely to rocket further. Saw some of today's prices and....eeeek...wish we had just got the 2000 last month and even though it is still spring, most people I'm sure will hope it is a mild winter:

28 Sec Kerosene Home Heating Oil
    1000 litres @ 55.02 ppl
    Net Total £550.20
    Vat 5% 27.51

    Total Price Inc VAT £577.71

What website do you use for monitoring oil prices ivan??
I use value oils ... I have no idea if they are the cheapest but they show the price on their front page (no need for any navigation).

IvanOpinion - I remember you posted (I think it was up until last November) the prices of oil each month. If you have kept a note of prices this year would it be possible for you to post it here? I can hardly believe oil has gone up £100 for 900L since we got ours a month ago.

not sure it was me that was posting, but if it is any help, here is a subset from the prices I took. It shows the date and the price recorded for 900l on that date. There may be some missing days and some may actually be from the Friday or the Tuesday but it should be near enough. Cut&paste into a spreadsheet and try graphing it .. depressing reading ;)

Now I've got the savings card and gonna just buy the £5 stamps (SVDP) when I can afford them....hopefully by the time the cold weather hits us again I'll have a reasonable amount saved to fill the tank.

Debs, what is the savings card you are talking about?

    TIA

Back to the fire and the back burner for everyone. Everyone buy an old turf spade and off to the nearest peat bog to get our turf.

Nothing to beat lighting a fire in the bog and freshly brewed tea, not to mention the midges.

if oil prices carry on like this I'll be glad to do it.

Value oils are not really the cheapest!!!

I check the oil prices on www.cheapestoil.co.uk/ which is based on online ordering.. think its updated about 3 times a day cuz the prices keep changin

Anyway the cheapest company for 900ltrs at the moment i am writing this is morrow fuels they are £503.41 compare this to value oils they are pricing £533.43..... 30 quid difference...

iv herd good things about value oils regarding the service but just thot id let people know that they are not the cheapest at the mo!!
