The BBC claims they were quoted £519 for 900 litres in this article
By my figures that means it has gone up from about £375 in January giving a whopping 33% rise in 4 months .. and it is still rising. This time last year it was about £275 which means it has gone up 81% in the last year.

We're very low on oil but as it's coming into the warmer weather we're just going to make do with the open fire (which has a back boiler) and struggle on until we absolutely have to buy oil. I just can't bring myself to pay the price even though I know it could be a lot worse by waiting.Member #7 SKI-ers Club

Hubby checked our oil tank and we have only 50 to 100 gallons left in our tank. I think we best order some oil, even 100 gallon, as it doesn't seem like the price of oil is going to come down any time soon.0

Yeah......its pretty awful, yet again, we are held to ransom by such an array of vultures...........and then what happens?
The biggest vulture of them all....HMG...creams off N Sea oil company profits, puts 80% tax on the the final product and ensures they collect the additional duties and VAT to squander..whilst the multi-billionaire "guests" pay no taxes yet enjoy all that is unique to these islands.......
I don't suppose the revolution is any time soon.....or am I in the wrong century....?
Oh, to have a Millhaven oil refinery "teaparty"......................0 -
Was trying to work out if burning 500 litres in 3 months was excessive given our relatively cautious use of the 'on' button, but judging by some of the comments in the old thread, it seems I can discount the possibility of our having made a contribution to the local mafia's night-crawling oil-gathering operation...
I used Value Oils previously and will probably do so again. The weigh-up between quantity of order and economic sense is a difficult one, especially given the approaching "summer", but note that 450 litres will actually cost you less than 400 and is the same price per litre as up to 850 litres.
I'm off to buy 450 litres and a padlock for my tank cap. Just in case.0 -
I know it's more expensive pence per litre but these are the economies of scale and unfortunately for me I just can't afford £250+ at the minute. Being able to order a smaller quantity works for me and hopefully I can order a larger quantity if the price drops in the summer (fingers crossed). Just thought some people in the same boat as me may like to know about this lower quantity
Yes we are the lower quantity order 'ers' too. We get from Redons on the Doagh Rd, Nabbey normally as they are the cheapest. Either 200 or 300 litres. Just can't afford 500 or 900 anymore!
I remember when we moved into our house 7 years ago we got 900 for £179 and we were  then :rotfl:
Does anyone think it will actually reduce down in the summer this year?Norn Iron club member - 2650 -
I'm just after ordering 200 gallons of oil, costing £490. We save for ours every week like Martin recommends otherwise I don't think we could have afforded it.0

My oil was delivered at 3:15pm and it is the first time I have ever ordered from this company.0
