I just looked back at the old thread. The cheapest oil on 25/01/2005 was 23.3p/ltr. 62p/ltr is really scary.

I'm starting to worry already about having enough oil just to keep the house warm for the kids. Looks like the spending is going to be cut even more with at least £200 a month going away just to heat the house this winter.

dW has been told that unless she is wearing the entire contents of all her wardrobes then she is not allowed to touch the heating ;)

I don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!

You mean she has more than one- wardrobe.
I did try this great moneysaving tip once but cost of plastic surgery defeated the purpose:D

Kellys fuel quoted £661 for 1000 litres on friday, I have now put a spare duvet behind the sofa so we sit under it if it's cold and watch tv, then head to bed

I definately wont be filling the tank for this winter, I'll put 500 litres in and turn it down again, it's going to be a huge luxury this winter

The prices are scary, we haven't had any oil since February. Thankfully it mild but cold showers everyday aren't fun!

If its any use to anyone I found a company based in Ireland and the UK called Sentinel Fuel Products that have a product that will monitor your oil tank tell you when to reorder before you run out, respond when their is theft or any leaks it can be tied in to existing intruder alarms etc. Seems the bizz. I will post contact details here when i get back.reino

Prices are slowly dropping back at the moment, reflecting the fall in the barrel price. Been monitoring Valueoils for a few days.

    500 litres 308.55 on 22nd, 305.80 on 23rd, 298.45 on 28th, 299.80 on 29th, 294.55 on 30th. A long way to go but at least it's headed in the right direction.
