I filled my tank at the end of August (topped up to about 1000ltrs) and seem to have 3-400ltrs left thankfully. My brother was saying people should get their tank filled during the summer then topped up Oct/Nov, I think he's right. It's just not worth running out. I always run on constant (single glazing & at home all day) but am keeping the thermostat at 20 - 21 atm for fear of a burst pipe. Apparently NIHE just aren't fixing anything until after boxing day.
My dad turned down the thermostat in my boiler house a couple of summers ago and I've really noticed the drop in fuel usage. Takes the house a little longer to warm up but has saved me a fortune, the first winter I lived here I used two full tanks of oil
The 17 yr old cat is loving it though, he's stuck to the radiator snoring his head off all dayThe stupid things you do, you regret... if you have any sense, and if you don't regret them, maybe you're stupid. - Katharine Hepburn0 -
Given the exhorbitant heating oil prices right now, surely there is some price gouging/profiteering going on with certain parties in the heating oil distribution chain?
Exactly who is getting rich at the expense of others in this case?0 -
Is the prices still for going up i need some this week ?

Every one's a joker :-) I presume you mean that you have a thermostat control knob on your boiler. Try setting it at the lowest, but if the house is too cold, raise it gradually until you reach an acceptable level of heat. Mine is usually at the lowest level but on exceptionally cold nights I tweak it up a bit. HTH0

Know there's a thread on here somewhere about it, couldn't remember if it was in this room though.
Anyone know the best deals around Belfast at the moment for oil?0
