Wow! £80/month. We're only paying £49/month for gas at the moment.
Hopefully, we won't use much during the 6 month contract, with it being 'summer', then we'll have to see how it goes.
Cheers.
We dont have the luxury of gas here and heating oil isnt the most efficient heating method in the world. And as I say we have to have the heating on during the day for around 8 months of the year
In the summer its off - mostly. Still have to use it for the hot water which is on the max of two hours a day0 -
We use about 3000 litres per year. Four bed victorian house, insulation pretty poor by modern standards.
I know it's 'Duh!' but, if your experience is like mine, you'll use about 85% of your annual consumption between November and May.0 -

I keep a record of the cost of my refills - these are the monthly averages (cost/no of months from previous fill). Not exceptionally accurate but will give you an idea; when it got to a silly price we were marginally more cautious with our use - on later, off earlier, lower boiler settings, drawn curtains etc. It's a 4 bed semi which we had properly insulated/new PVC double glazing in the extension towards the end of 2004. We normally fill Jan/Feb.

Do you really fill your tank just once a year? If so, you're certainly living up to your name.0 -

Yes, I do.
Why?
I think that most years I've got a reasonable price compared to the average. Last year for example there were fairly nasty rises after I filled and I've consistently got discounted rates for ordering larger quantities.
I thought that's was the essence of MSE'rs.0 -

What's classed as larger quantities? I never get it unless I'm buying 1100 litres. Seen a drastic drop in consumption since I replaced the old aluminium DG with UPVC.0
