    Hi All.

I live near Bicester (Oxfordshire). Does anyone know where I can get a small quantity (approx 50 litres) of home heating oil? I am in a rented house and move out in 6 weeks, really don't want to buy 500 litres!!

    Thanks. Bob.
  • You probably don't have a real choice. AIUI the Weights and Measure certification on the tanker gauges is only valid for 500L and above deliveries. That might make it illegal for them to supply less that.

The second problem is that they incur all the costs of sending a tanker to you and only get the profit on 50L.

Bob, a lot of local garages here sell 25 litre drums of heating oil for emergencies, maybe there'd be something similar closer to you? Maybe you could ring around and ask a few places?

  • Ok its all very well quoting the cheapest prices for deliveries but you can seriously save dough by getting your boiler serviced - a badly running boiler could be losing over 20% of your oils energy - get it serviced - it costs in the region of £38.00 which you will recoup easily in higher efficiency!

Also constantly running out of oil will end up damaging the oil pump - clog up the fuel nozzle and soot up the boiler - sorry

Just done a reasonably thorough search for 900litres

Best price I could find today was from value oils, £306. No additional charges on top either which is getting rarer these days.

Current price for 900L is £299 from Bangor Fuels.

I'm curious. What additional charges? I've never been quoted or asked to pay additional charges. The quoted price is the delivered price IME.
