I have had a busy day, did my ballet with the duster and hoover, 3 loads of washing dried and put away, a trip to the library and Wilkinson, then cooked sausage and bean casserole.......in between my neighbour came with the chap to sort the hall light fitting.......so now it switches on and off as it should.

I watched the TV coverage of Barack Obama's inaugeration????spelling???? an historic day for America and the world. Not something I expected to see in my lifeime I must admit...............

Its time for bed, I am shattered...................

  • Just wanted to say thanks for all the support and pm's. I have read them all and will reply when I feel a little stronger

I haven't even bothered talking to him tonight, I've learned that it's pointless when he's drunk, he fell asleep on the bus on the way home and ended up in the bus depot, not even the bus station, he'd actually ended up where they park the things for the night! He even thought that was funny!

Wanted me to collate all the information he needs for work in the morning but I refused, should have just got on and done it as it would have been quicker than clearing up the living room after he lost his temper. It was spotless up till then, I'd spent ages cleaning it this morning. He then stomped off to bed leaving his tea untouched in the microwave. Wonder why I bother really?
  • Now I'm feeling the odd (wo)man out with all the inaguration talk. I'm american and haven't watched one bit of it. And where I come from is all of 20 miles from Washington, DC. :o It is a historic day and I'll catch up on it all tomorrow online etc. He has a very difficult road before him in the present climate. I hope that the talk from the different political parties about working together for the good of all is not just talk. Time will tell.

OS today I tidied and hoovered the flat and washed a few clothes that had to be handwashed (yuck!) Baked a loaf and it smells wonderful. I'm loving baking my own bread. Who would have thought it? :rotfl:

Tea tonight was beef brisket I cooked in the SC with some broth and an onion, some worcestershire sauce and a few other seasonings. After it was very tender, I sort of shredded it and tossed it in with some onion and pepper strips, soy sauce and a bit of pepper. It was very nice. Usually I'd serve it with rice but had leftover fusilli in the refrige so served it on that and it worked out very well.

Baked a couple of trays of cookies for DH's lunches and a chocolate fudge cake for afters tonight. Very easy and so fudgy and good. Had a bit of double cream on it and thought I was in choccie heaven. :D

The washing up is done, kitchen sparkly, I'm showered. It's been a good evening.

I'm very glad you all are "family of the heart." To me, there is biological family, the one you are born in to and you have no choice about that. Family of the heart are those we choose to care for as family, and so that makes them extra special. You all are true family of the heart to me. Thanks for being just who you are.

(((((((((((((((((((((((((((Hugs))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) to everyone because we all need plenty every day.

Moggins sweetie, vent away. We care and we're ready to listen whenever you need to talk. I pm'd you.

Now off to bed. I need all the beauty sleep I can get! :rotfl:

    Peyton xx

  • Moggins - just sending hugs. You are in the hardest place. But you have the most lovely people on here and you can offload as much as you like, and it is safe.

You have to take care of yourself to take care of your little ones. And you have to take care of your little ones. And sometimes taking care of yourself is just letting off steam.

Hope all works out for you.

Evening all.Managed to get on here for a mooch at long last- others have been hogging the laptop, but are safely watching footy now ;) .I'm finding it hard to have my routine disrupted with DH and DS2 being at home due to having no work.Ah well....patience is a virtue, wish I had a bit more of it at the mo!
I've been hard at it (OS that is) for a few days.DS1 and his D fiancee came up for tea,at the weekend.Hadn't seen them since their trip away over Xmas so we had a lovely time, and tried to help with the plan of action they are coming up with to deal with his redundancy, and one of the ways I can help is to make some meals/soups up for their freezer,so went for a stock up of cheap veg from Aldi and Morries, and some food containers from the pound shop.Got quite a few reduced items from the Coop too.I dont want her to feel like I'm being a nosey future MIL, but she does have a responsible job and works v hard so I hope it makes things a bit easier. They always seem very appreciative of any hm offerings I come up with anyway.
I had to tidy the chest freezer so I can get the soups in,more room than I thought once I'd done that.
Right, going to read for a bit now, wind down before bed or I won't sleep.I did a bit of silk painting earlier to make a birthday card for my old school friend and I'm quite pleased with it,just need to make up the card now.
Aussie-what a lovely post,it brought a lump to my throat.
    (((Moggins))) Hugs to you.
    Thriftlady,hope DD is better soon,

Sleep tight everyone I'm off to bed with my hot water bottle soon. DH is still glued to the news channel watching President Obama. I'm all Obama'd out now. Have to say though what a great speech it was very stirring stuff - I don't envy him the job ahead though.

Peyton *family of the heart* is a lovely phrase :D On my kitchen windowsill is a little angel figure given to me by a dear friend. She's holding a plaque which says * friends are the family we choose for ourselves* She gave it to me after I'd supported her through a tough time. It's much treasured;)
