  • Evening Everyone

I have been swamped with work today so have not done much in the way of OS but thought I would pop in to say hello.

Today I thought I would make a batch of yorkshire puddings at tea time and freeze the extras as there are only two of us. They were a disaster  more like thick pancakes than yorkshire puddings. They tasted ok but looked funny on the plate. OH said he would make tea tomorrow so I don't think he was impressed with tonights offerings.:o

You would think being born and bred in yorkshire I would be an expert. Funny thing is OH is a geordie and we live in the NE and I successfully made pease pudding for the first time at the weekend.

Any tips on making perfect yorkshires gratefully received.

They are going in the freezer and we will just have to close our eyes next time we eat them.

I am going to make the last bit of batter in to a pancake with lemon and sweetner. Good job OH hasn't got a sweet tooth or I would have to share:p

Enjoy the rest of your evening

    Hi everyone :hello:

I just don't feel able to post everyday as I am always at work full time, but I do take the time to catch up on this thread as everyone is always so inspirational! :A

Well, I am feeling good as I have made and frozen such a lot of meals (for when I am dog-tired) that I could jump for joy - oh, wait :j
    Lasagne
    Shepherds Pie
    Chicken Korma
    Minced beef hotpot

I wish I had seen the inauguration perhaps I can catch it on BBC24. I would like to say "I was there" to my grandbabies (as yet unconceived :rotfl: )

Big hugs to all that want them - Thriftlady & WannabeSybyil I thrive on your posts so please keep it up :T

I just read yesterday's thread & I suppose I was on the opposite side of the spectrum as my Mum died 3 years ago yesterday. I didn't say it earlier in my post as it was something that grieves me every day and not just on the 19th. I still miss her presence in my life – I miss the fun times, the casual conversations, and the closeness that I had with her as a daughter.

But do you ever get over the loss of someone very close to you. I don’t think so – I know the pain does ease and the memories kick in – but there is not a day that goes by in my life – that I don’t think of her. I will never forget the memory that she left behind in my thoughts and in my children. There is always a special place in my heart for her .
Yes, it gets easier, but there is always an emptiness.

Here's to you, Mum. I still love you and miss you heaps.

There is an ache in my heart that will never go away. What I wouldn't give for one more hug from you…. What I wouldn’t give to hear your voice… what I wouldn’t give to hear you laugh. <hugs> to those that have lost loved ones too. xxx

I haven't read yesterday's thread but think this is possibly the loveliest post I've ever read. I can identify with every word. My own darling Mum died almost 3 years ago. The sudden death of Dad just over 3 weeks ago seems to have heightened every yearning. I too would give anything, every possession I have just to kiss and hug her once more. ((hugs)) to you Aussie, your Mum had a lovely daughter:kisses3:

I'll read the rest of the thread then come back to report my OS achievements today. Be prepared, I've had a few:D

I think a reminder is needed that regardless of the rest of the forum, OS has always been a place where the old adage "if you can't say anything nice, then don't say anything at all, has been it's saviour, help and advice are always welcome, !!!!!ing definitely not welcomed.
    Wonderfully said! Thanks luv.

    Giant hugs xxx

    Evening all
When my ex & I decided to get married, my MIL told me I had to wear lilac as it was the only appropriate colour for soiled goods, our relationship went downhill from there, lol.
Wannabe Sybil, you go girl, lol.
Hope you feel better soon PP.
At work I'm still waiting to get some 'help' from BOW, I'm not holding my breath, she really is as nutty as a squirrels f@rt.
    Have a good evening everybody.
    Hugs Hester

my italian ex mother in law kept saying this word everytime we met with one another in the early stages of mine and my ex's relationship....i was later to find it was italian for 'prostitute'....which she called me because i already had a daughter from a former relationship :D

(my former partner had died suddenly and tragically at the age of 25, 1 month before we were to marry)

Funnily enough, the first three years of my relationship with my ex mother in law were really hard going, but the last 3 years were much better. When i divorced my ex i was so sad not to see her anymore but it was made impossible due to the acrimony of mine and my ex's divorce.
