BT Price Increases from 1/4/2009

I can see that no one has said anything about the calling features going up in price. 1 calling feature from £1.71 to £2.50 per month. I feel that this is a steep increase but they have not increased there calling features in over 5 years. I think it is great that they are now giving 0845/0870 number in with your calling plan. BT will lose 24 million in revenue from these calls.BT is the first company in the UK to do this. With regards to the line rental going up to £12.50, this is due to the inflation rate & BT has not increased their line rental in over 2 years. If you set up DD & e-billing you would het it for the price of £11.25 which means that it is not a £1 increase. BT is ggod value for money!!!BT is my speciality :rotfl:

Anyone would think you work for BT
I realise that all businesses have to increase their revenue streams to remain viable, and they have the right to do that. As consumers, we have to judge whether we're still getting value for money.
A lot of people moan about prices increases. I've had a moan myself earlier on this thread. At the end of the day just switch to another provider if you're not happy about the price. There is competition out there - and it's a good job there is because it gives us mere mortals freedom of choice. :jIf you will the end, you must will the means.0 -

But it doesn't give everybody freedom of choice - i.e some people choice is limited - such as people without internet to seek out best tariffs or have online bills, those that can't use DD for whatever reason.0 -

This may well be true - so what are these poor unfortunate people going to do about it? Use their initiative and find a way of dealing with it, or just be doomed.....??
Ref internet access...well there are internet cafes, public libraries, free advice centres etc. The DD one is a bit trickier I admit. But the number of people without a bank account these days is nominal. You can still pay by other methods - there will be a small charge but if the deal is right they can still save quite a bit.If you will the end, you must will the means.0 -

They have the freedom to seek them out. They also have the freedom to not use MDDs. It is their choice. If, for some reason, they actually CAN'T then I am sure they would have access to some help.
Why do they not have choice? Please give one example.0 -
Choice in this country, whilst BT still have full control over the telephone lines, is non-existent.
The only choice there is, is either have a phone, or don't have one. In some area's there is cable, but Virgin are as bad as BT in a lot of respects.0 -

Some line providers choose not to do that (some embroidering the truth by saying they are not allowed to and/or only BT can) but the point is they can do so.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
