A week ago I got a confusing letter which seemed to indicate we were due £17 but it really wasn't clear - could have said we owed £17:p
But good news today - a cheque arrived for 336.50 in my hubby's name. When I made the application I said we would split it equally (not sure why - think it was cos I was the one doing the forms! It all goes into the joint anyway! So I'm wondering whether there is another on the way in my name! Still a nice surprise this morning!
Good luck all and thanks for your help, this site is a lifesaver!:j:j:j
I also put for it to be split equally and the cheque arrived a couple of weeks back in just hubbys name, I am presuming looking at the calculations that this will be all we get as I was not actually paying tax in this year, so would have no tax to claim back iykwim, it might be different if you were both paying tax for that year

hi
thanks for your response Claire1977
I was working that year, both paye and self employed, so I suppose I still may get something, or maybe my tax was sorted correctly in the first place, because I think that was often the case for the self employed.
I can't be the only one to find communications from HM R & C less than clear, can I?
Good luck to everyone else:DGala bingo wins £70!!! mystery shopping earnings: £0

started my own thread then found this sorry!!!
i posted mine in early december to leeds. phoned on the 25th jan and the guy said it would be sent to my local tax office for processing, BUT he advised me to send another to my local tax office as i should of heard by now?? so i hand delivered it on the 25th jan 09,
just to let you know i STILL havent heard anything. but loads of friends etc... sent theirs after mine and got something, we know we are entitled to it so i guess their is a few like me still waiting????
also i phoned them today and the guy couldnt tell me anything except if i havent heard by the 10th april to ring them back.0 -
hi i took my form to my local office as i couldnt remember where my husbands office was,as the company has been taken over 3 times so a bit tricky, the lady in the office date stampted it for me,so at least i know they had it in time, she said they will forward to the appropriate office, luckily i had a root around at home and found a wage slip of my husbands dated nov2002 and he was on a tax code L so i sent a photocopy of it with the form,my son was born in sept 02,so fingers crossed we may qualify for the double amount.
my friend sent hers the week before mine to the tax office in scotland as her husbands office is there and she recieved a cheque on thurday last week,so they seem to be woprking through them,it just seems that if they have to pass them to the right office it may take longer.
so i have everything crossed :rotfl:0 -
Why do you get a double amount if your child is born in 2002?
I put my eldest son 1996 on the form but I also had a child born 2002 I didn't put him down because I thought we may only get a proportion because they may have thought we only had a child for part of the year. I wish this was all a lot less ambiguous.:j Trytryagain FLYLADY - SAYE £700 each month Premium Bonds £713 Mortgage Was £100,000@20/6/08 now zilch 21/4/15:beer: WTL - 52 (I'll do it 4 MUM)0 -

Who is eligible?
The standard allowance was £529, and up to £1,048 if your child was born between 6 April 2002 and 5 April 2003.
You may be eligible to claim the relief for 2002-03 if all of the following conditions apply:- your child was born between 6 April 1986 and 5 April 2003
- the child lived with you for all or part of 2002-03
- you worked and paid tax for all or part of 2002-03
- You earned over £6,000 in the 2002/2003 tax year
hi hope this clears up the confusion!!!0 -
yes it does ..the way i think it came across was 2 payments for 2 children lol
my children were 89 and 92 so i was told to put 1992 !!!~We are all going to hell and guess who Is driving the bus~*Norn Iron club Member 294* (Hi, we’ve had to remove part of your signature.
