Why does a poster or hanging board printed weeks in advance represent the current selling price without question? If the mars hanging board said £1.18 and you were charged £1.05 would you say anything? Would you insist that the board was correct? I think not......the system price IS the correct one, misprices are caused by stores not updating the printed material, be that posters, pre priced barcodes, hanging point of sale or any other price displayed in store. The system CAN NOT be behind the SELs, it is the system that generates them.

As I said last time you posted this, the system price is NOT always correct, and this is proved because we regularly see system prices are being corrected to be the same as the SEL, about as often as the other way round.

I accept what you're saying about overcharges only existing when any POS material says a lower price, that's obviously true, but it's not right to say the system price is always right and the SEL/POS price is always wrong.
How about the PCs with prices the wrong way round? The cherries? Xbox controller? ALL corrected back DOWN to the SEL/POS prices.

    Dear Tars,
thankyou for your kind words.Ive found out who the main manager is but he isnt "conveniently" rotad on this week.I'm going to ring customer services first thing and shall update.Ive never had an r&r in this store before so hasnt been like its something I do there weekly!
I was wondering rather than suffering indignity of going back to that store can I go to another to request my refund?

I'm 99% sure that you can get a refund at any store. I'm not sure about R & R though as there is no easy way for the store you went to to check what the other store was displaying. I would simply suggest going and asking. Not all the CS guys are evil :)

Ive rung customer services.Took name and reference number. They rung store... manager isnt on till 10pm tonight.Duty Manager from poster said "it appears I'm due a refund" but needs to investigate further the offer first before will refund me and staffs behaviour.Have been told she will contact me today.
If she doesnt ring by noon I have her name and shall be ringing.
Regarding discipling member of staff said "police matter" even though on their premises and their member of staff so basically saying they are admonishing the cs womans behaviour.
Said they wont refund me at another store so now I'm sat waiting for phone call for my refund. They have till noon.
Right now I'm concentrating on getting my money back/refund today then I will follow it up with one almighty complaint to customer services/head office copied to trading standards(cc)
Dont really fancy solicitor or paper route I feel embarrassed enough.
Has really put me off ever shopping at tescos again but I'm saving points.Ive 3700 points from instore this quarter without online points.Shows how much custom they will be losing.
I dont wish further embarrassment in store discussing cs chimps behaviour and will tell her that i simply want my refund and they are losing my custom.
    Lidls and morrisons look promising

This is carp. There is nothing to stop them holding their own internal investigation into this matter. Indeed, with such an allegation it would be negligent not to.
  • you really shouldn't be embarrassed, after all you did nothing wrong but point out that you have been over charged. don't let them bully you, you must hold your head up high, walk back into the shop and stand your case. once head office gets involved you will notice a change in their attitude, they will be too scared to say anything again, i know because it happened to me. whenever i go back into the store and r+r the lady is always extremely polite, too scared to say anything in case i phone head office again!!!!!! dont be afraid, go back and get your r+r once ho have rung you back.
i would take the matter futher regarding your arm however, as if you had harmed one of their staff they would most likely have you done of it, so either tell them you want compensation(and not just a couple of £10 vouchers) or you will be taking it futher with the police.
please dont be embarrassed, you have done nothing wrong, hold your head up high and be PROUD.

I asked if they would be reprimanding the cs on her behaviour on their treatment of me or if this was their "normal" way of treating customers.I got told to "report" her to the police as it wasnt a matter for them so informed her I already had!P'raps they will deal with her but not tell me as it means I could sue.
Still waiting for call hmm.52 mins and counting theyve had a full hour and a half to get back to me then.Logging everything.
  • hang in there girl and get whats due to you!!!!!!

Actually, where undercharges are concerned, I do tell CS about them. I can tell you that Kalibur 6 packs are mispriced at Asda (something like £3.79 on the SEL, but going through the till at £2.97). I informed CS about this in November. The CS rep made a note about it and said she would get it sorted out (it's a definite undercharge because £2.97 or so is the price for a 4 pack, not 6 - our Asda doesn't sell the 4 pack, though). It's still going through at the lower price, even though I told them again at the end of December. It work both ways, Spa2K.

Technically they wont be overcharged as there is no lower price advertised however to answer your question....

I AM NOT DEFENDING THE ACTIONS OF THE PARTICULAR STAFF MEMBERS, JUST EXPLAINING.....

in order to change the price on the product, a member of staff has to procure a PDA (personal handset) and a printer, they have to have a login and password to the system, they have to be trained on how it works. They then have to reprice each individual product based on the new SEL price. This cannot be done by the CS staff as they have neither the training or the time and therefore must be done by someone on the relevant department. The logical course of action is to remove the label thus ensuring that the advertised price (that on the product) is the correct one and no lower price is shown. Legal compliance is therefore ensured.

You've forgotten to mention that half the time, the PDA doesn't work and it's almost impossible to find another one. ;)
