    Dear Tars,
thankyou for your kind words.Ive found out who the main manager is but he isnt "conveniently" rotad on this week.I'm going to ring customer services first thing and shall update.Ive never had an r&r in this store before so hasnt been like its something I do there weekly!
I was wondering rather than suffering indignity of going back to that store can I go to another to request my refund?
Hi Flufff, been reading about your terrible time with Tesco's.
There was another couple who has this problem with store managers getting aggressive and trying to rip the price stickers off the product(toys i think)
I don't know what the outcome was but there was loads of helpful advice from other mse'ers, i will try and find the original post somehow, but i do recall they went to another store after the incident to get it logged in the Tesco accident book and i beleive they got r&r from this other store.
Will have a lokk for you
YAY i found the original post and i was right it IS very similar to your situation hope this helps

Fluff. Just to add my support. Seems inconceivable that a customer can be treated this way.

As has been said before, if you'd injured a member of staff they would have had absolutely no hesitation in calling the police out there and then. I hope that the police act on this straight away and manage to secure CCTV footage of the incident.

Of course, you were too shook up to think of this, but imagine if you'd insisted on it being logged in the Accident Book. The entry would have made very interesting reading

hi people, just come back from the Longton tesco extra after having quite a heated argument with a snotty customer service woman. i bought a will and grace series 7 dvd

I find that most of the CS staff at Longton are of a similar ilk, I've have r&r a couple of times (mostly unintentional after I've checked my receipt and found i've been overcharged) and they make you feel like you're pinching the cash out of their very own pockets.

Just to check, how many people here have had sucessfull R&R at Longton so far?

i know what you mean stevenevermind, the longton staff do make you feel like your commiting a crime. i shall make sure i will never go to CS when this particular CS staff is on duty. some of the staff at longton however are really nice and i have had a few misprices sims2 ps2 game, old skool cd, book, extras dvd. but i still think that i was in the right with the will and grace dvd, what do people think? it was misleading right?

ps. have you had any r&rs at the longton store steve? its my local, nice to see another MSEr in stoke lol

Why does a poster or hanging board printed weeks in advance represent the current selling price without question? If the mars hanging board said £1.18 and you were charged £1.05 would you say anything? Would you insist that the board was correct? I think not......the system price IS the correct one, misprices are caused by stores not updating the printed material, be that posters, pre priced barcodes, hanging point of sale or any other price displayed in store. The system CAN NOT be behind the SELs, it is the system that generates them.

For the Mars Bars, I never had a hanging board, but a large SEL. It made a big thing of the price being reduced due to price check, making it clear that the price had gone down because it had been lowered in another supermarket and a date 1 day prior to me buying the bars. Do price checks with rival stores occur daily and prices amended accordingly on the system?

As for being undercharged, we both know I would be laughed at if I went to CS to demand to pay more (especially seeing as I would have had to wait 20 minutes;) ) but there have been times I have returned products bought during an offer and a full refund has been given when I only paid a BOGOF price or 20% off clothing. I spent 20 (!) minutes trying to resolve the clothing issue as they'd given me £10 too much and just didn't understand I was trying to return the extra money they'd given me. I was told to keep it in the end as it was too much hassle to resolve, as was the incident where we bought all the drinks for a friends wedding on BOGOF, returned about £50 worth and were given £100 back...again told to keep it as a goodwill gesture when we tried to return the dosh.

So I try to point out errors which benefit Tesco too, but their CS staff are full of too much goodwill!

I also looked on the SEL barcodes that the last numbers bar the two numbers after the slash correspond to the bar code of the produt. So I knew these would scan at teh higher price.

Probably most people know this but good way to gain the confidence to buy it knwoing it is full price and you'll get a R & R

Could you clarify this please? do you mean that if the SEL last 2 digits are different from the 2 on the product that it will scan at a different price? can you tell if it will scan at a higher or lower price?

Maybe this info should be added to the first post as it is very useful

Oh, the 4 xbox games thing didn’t work as the poster said FROM £30

no, if the barcodes on both the product and the SEL match (bar the last 2 digits), then the price scanned will more than likely be the price displayed on the SEL.

therefore, if a lower price is displayed elsewhere, you sre on to a winner!!!
