    I've been Money Tipped!
Use hairspray instead of fly spray. It's glues the little blighters up so they can't fly (scuse the pun).

The flies will soon be dropping like...erm...flies.   :-/

I gave up trying to rescue those silly little moths at night and got sick of spraying hairspray and fly spray round where I have pets in just about every room.

I decided there was only one thing for it. My vacuum has a nozzle you see, and the story goes like this...  :-X
  • I get a big jar put a bit of water in it and a dollop of jam -handy if you've got any mouldy stuff to bin, put the water and jam in the jar, it attracts wasps but if you can get a wasp and squish it - chuck it in the jar as I seem to remember that wasps give off a scent to other wasps if they are hurt or something! Anyway once one wasp is in there loads will go in and drown, flies can't help themselves either and also go in, mines farily near my backdoor and we were fly and wasp free for ages - I didn't put any sort of lid on the jar. Tried ignoring it though as I hate to see living things struggling to survive even if just flies and waspies!

I think the flies around here like Basil. Never mind - tey'll all soon go away once the colder wetaher starts and then we'll be wishing for the warmer fly-ridden days again.

Remember, we get get 10 months of winter followed by 2 months of bad weather!!! :-/

With the sumer weather upon us again the flies are back in droves. I have been thinking of getting an electric fly killer like they have in shops.
Has anyone had one of these, and are they any good?.
Maplins have them one for £14.99 and the other for £24.99.

That's not your only cost, I'm afraid. The tubes deteriorate with time and should be renewed every year to stay effective, so it would be a good idea to factor in the cost of new tubes.

Personally I shoo the noisy ones out of the open window they came in by (why are they smart enough to find the way in but too stupid to find the way out again?) and pretty much ignore them otherwise. When I really want peace I shut all the windows and doors and, has been mentioned already, stalk the little bvggers with the hoover.

    :)

Thanks for that, the tubes are only 98p each and they take 2 of them. Its just when the children are out in the garden I would rather have the door open to keep an eye on them, and are kitchen is open plan so they seem to head straight for it. Like you say they have a hard time trying to get out even though I give them few pointers.
