I freeze Tesco milk and have never had one leak - maybe you were just unlucky OP?

But please, would you just get over it - life's too short and Tesco won't do anything about it cos it doesn't happen to all of us, plus they put a warning on the carton so they are covered.

If I sell you a brand new plasma TV and put a warning in small writing on the side of the box saying "may not be suitable for viewing for over 1hr continuous duration" you'd be flipping mad, but I'd be covered. See my point? It isn't right to put absolute tripe like that on the packaging then blame customers for not reading it.

I'm glad not all moneysavers' attitudes are like yours. Because we'd never get anywhere.

No offence intended to anyone but I thought everyone knew that you can't freeze milk??? It expands and bursts the container it's in.

No offence to you but if you 'can't freeze milk' why does it say "Suitable for Home Freezing" on every milk carton available? :D

I buy 4 pinters but it says on them - Keep refrigerated between 0 and 5 degrees C. No mention of freezing.

But then I suppose they're not the same as a carton. :)

What brand of milk is that then? Oh btw, if it's full cream milk sometimes you can't freeze that... ;)

First of all, I always have half a freezer full of organic milk, in plastic bottles, from Morrisons and they have never once leaked. I freeze them because I only go to the supermarket every couple of weeks or so and the organic milk locally (where I get my organic veg) is very expensive.

It sounds like a design flaw which should be rectified.

Secondly, regarding packaging etc. I looked into having my milk delivered as then I'd probably only need to do a supermarket shop every 3 weeks or so and I thought it would be more environmentally friendly to reuse milk bottles. Unfortunately not enough people have organic milk delivered and they only sell it in cartons. It was much more expensive than my usual milk and I thought it was unlikely to be much better for the environment than recycling the plastic containers. Particularly since the deliveries aren't made in the electric milk floats round here any more.
May all your dots fall silently to the ground.

I'm against the plastic containers because of health concerns about plastic leaching into milk, not solely because they leak. Although this has revived my determination against plastics. These haven't been proven yet but I practice a 'better safe than sorry' approach to things.

Yeo Valley claim there is no risk of the plastic leaching into the milk, even minimal amounts. But then, there was supposed to be no risk from eating contaminated beef during the BSE outbreak, then there 'was' a risk and beef was removed, but it was still enough to cause CJD in those people who were susceptible to it.

I don't see how it can be termed 'Organic' if the plastic used in the container has a risk of leaching into the milk. DOn't think the government or FSA cares about consumers, because they don't. The USA's Food and Drug Administration has banned loads of "E" number products that are still legal in this country.

It's for this reason that I'd like to petition supermarkets to go back to waxed cartons. Sure, it will cost 2-3p extra, but I'd rather pay that and know that my health isn't being compromised. I mean, what's the point in having piles of money stashed away if you've got cancer and 6 months to live? Money isn't going to help. Spend it on proper healthy food and invest in your health!

    (Rant over :o)

    Please help me ..

I bought some madiera cakes from tescos and then made a boat out of them.

I was amazed to discover that the boat didn't float for very long (especially with the whole family aboard it).

What annoys me is that I actually used the smooth peanut butter to stick the bits of cake together so there's no way it should have leaked (the lumpy peanut butter doesn't give as close a fit)!!!

    Can I complain to Tesco's?

Before anyone jumps down my throat, can I just say that it doesn't say on the package 'Do not use to make boats'...so there.

Similarly it does not say on the packet "suitable for making boats" Which is OP's point.
