Hah they must all be down in London - there were even runners on Monday when have the city was closed
(Soft northerners - youself excepted of course)
Good running though! As usual...0 -
Got to agree - there is a bit of softness being displayed up here at the moment, although I have seen an elderly lady out running since my previous post!:D
Well done on the fartlek - should keep things nicely ticking over and I reckon you'll be well primed for the 5K on Saturday. As you say it will be interesting to see how Leeds Hyde Park compare to Richmond Park - on the face of it they could be of similar course difficulty, but we'll see!
Well done on yesterday's runs, Chickadee and Raphael, and good to see the foundation walking still coming along nicely, Haley!
Pepper, hope your recovery is speedy and that you get plenty enjoyment from your expanded family.:DGt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Morning all, I'm not sure if I'll be going out later today as the snow is falling here now and doesn't show any sign of letting up. I may have to have a visit to the gym and run on a treadmill of it gets worse.

We're staying in.
******* stupid weather.
Sick to death of it.
Worse than ever today - I bought my run kit and everything.

We had 28cm (11 inches) of snow round my way on Monday. Even got a special mention and my road was on the news because a gritter got stuck.
Anyway, what it means is no running and no football. I'm getting pretty fidgety, let me tell you. Even my Friday lunchtime (work team) match is cancelled and there's hardly any snow or ice left in the city.
Sadly, my neck of the woods still has about 2 inches of ice (i.e. compacted snow) on the pavements, so running is a no-go.
As soon as I can, I'm going to run until I collapse of exhaustion!Running Club targets 20105KM - 21:00 21:55 (59.19%)10KM - 44:00 --:-- (0%)Half-Marathon - 1:45:00 HIT! 1:43:08 (57.84%)Marathon - 3:45:00 --:-- (0%)0 -
Mwhahaha I love living in zone 1 - no snow left for me and only one day missed - soooo looking forward to my 10 miler tonight and my 20 on Sunday0

Man, that sucks...I at least managed to get a game of footy in last night, the astro just about defrosted for long enough0 -
I RAN OUTSIDE!!!!! I AM A RUNNER!!!!! :j :j :j :j (oooh, sorry was I shouting?????)
I have just completed my first run outside and I am very, very happy. Can you tell????
I set out to do a steady 5k; it was cold, wet and windy and much, much tougher than on the treadie but I DID IT!!!
When I got back I realised why it felt so tough - it was my fastest 5k yet. I know coz my mate Paula told me so on my ipod.
I completed 5.15k in 33.41 a pace of 6.32/km. (the 5k took 32.45).
Now, what to do next? I was thinking of walking my longer route again tomorrow (legs permitting), then resting on Saturday and running another 5k on Sunday. What do you experts think?2021 MFW No.18 £9900/£10,000Mortgage at 21.07.20 £178,999 Mortgage today £150,8910 -
WOW Simply - go you!!!
Running outside is great though isnt it
I'll let Rich answer that definitively but I reckon that sounds fine to me0 -

Congratulations, Simply - I get the feeling that you're a little abuzz at the moment - enjoy it, theres loads more of that to come.:D
For an equivalent effort you do run faster outside than on a treadmill because of the greater 'energy return' from the running surface, or in layman's terms ...it's a harder surface!:p
Yep, your plan is just fine - but concentrate on getting round the 5K, not trying to get round faster. Keep telling yourself that the more you push, the more likely you are to get injured....and the risk of injury is very real, if not now it will be stored up for later problems. So very easy is the essential requirement.
But fantastic, another milestone ticked off!:DGt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j
