Hi, pop in and out occasionally to read up and was just wondering if anyone could tell me what 10k is in old money. Still saving up for some good trainers

    6.21 miles!

But all 10K races are marked out in Ks now, so we have all had to become metricated or metrified or metrificated... oh well, you know what I mean!:p :p:p

God weather is appauling isn't it! Going to try and get up at 5am (only time I can fit 10 miles in tomorrow) for a run, hope the ice/snow combo has gone slightly but will try and get some miles in too. Runclub was cancelled on Monday due to horrific weather so lacking in miles this week :(

I will def try two layers - when I get cold, I stay cold and can't sleep. I have just put the kettle on for a hot water bottle :o

Sally - you have my complete admiration for even THINKING about getting up at 5 to do 10 miles! I will be doing mine in the evening, weather permitting.

There have been so many runs aborted/lost this week.......roll on spring.

    Good evening all,

Hope everyone is enjoying a little break, the snow lasted one day here then all disappeared. Not to be taken lightly though as the hill are still snowy and definitely wouldn't venture to places like Snowdon (sad news about the 2 blokes that died).

I went to the Chiropractor today, wow amazing, he took an xray/picture type thing of my spine and after lots of questions and proding and poking he was able to tell me then the bottom of my spine and my neck were twisted. He started some treatment which involved him twisting my side, presssing and goodness knows what else but something popped and back felt instantly better.

It's been achey as the evening has worn on but not needed any painkillers since this morning. Early days yet but he will give me a more detailed explanation of what's been going on and treatment.

I'll ask him on Thursday about exercise but I don't want to start too soon when healing is just starting after so many years of problems. Hubbie is still doing the 10km in llandudno on Sunday so I'll have fun watching him whilst I'm toasty warm!
  • Morning all runners,
Hope everyone managed to get out for there morning runs today?
Iv not been out since last week, had the weekend at home and didnt get out, then did circuit training yesterday and something gave way in my knee again, so off to the doctors on monday( the only time they can fit me in). Really annoyed as i was really enjoying my running and was confident on passing my fit test, but will have to wait and see what the doc`s say on monday.
Youve all had some really good times and distances keep it up.

Aww sorry to hear your knee is playing up again JJ! I hope the docs goes well for you on Monday :(

I managed a respectable 5.5 this morning - but warning to Poorbabe - dont go out on the southside - tate modern to vauxhall bridge are completely lethal - the North side of the river seems to be mostly clear but is still a bit icy where the snow has melted and re-frozen.

Geez running on compact ice is tough on the thigh muscles by the way...

    Happy running all!

Glad you managed to get out becky!

Icy here today but I will hopefully go out this evening if it isn't too lethal. It is incredibly cold though - well below freezing, so might have to try my "double layer" running for the first time!

jj, sorry about your knee, and hope it gets fixed soon!
