No I prefer custard, but rice pudding is better because it has carbs in
Ooo I love rhubarb crumble and warmed up custard....mmmmmm
We should call the DFW run club the rhubarbs and custards0 -
Hi all. Hope everyone is enjoying the snow and the enforced rest day
I've not done any running since hills on Thursday night, but I did walk more than usual over the weekend and went clubbing on Saturday night (well, Sunday morning!) so that counts doesn't it?
I did actually think about cycling to work this morning, then realised that my bike was still in the nearby shop my company uses. Once I actually got out on the road I saw that would not have been a good idea so I'll have to leave it a few days.
Not sure I'll be doing any track work tomorrow but as I owe money for a pair of spikes I'll wander over and see if any other mad people turn up.

Hey Poor - the snow was mad wasnt it?!? No chance of me getting out to do intervals today - my garden is totally snowed under still
I'm going to take in my running kit though and survey the situation - if its not too bad/icey I'll run home very slowly tonight and do my intervals tomorrow
Hope Rich didnt have the 30cms of snow he was expecting - eeekss
And Idio - ah but if you never use it you get used to 'knowing' roughly your pace which is very handy because it teaches you to listen to your body and not just kill it on every run0 -
Week23
Mon2/2 Rest Day
Tues3/2 10K 54:11 (8:45/mile) (Pulse 92)
With the Extreme Severe Weather Warning   for our area last night there was always going to be some doubt over getting an interval session done.
But with the Met Office mentioning 'risk to life' but nothing about 'risk to interval sessions' I thought there may still be some hope!:p
One look out of the window at 6am and it was clear that there was no point in travelling to the track as it was going to be under several inches of snow. But I still thought that there was a chance of doing the intervals on the roads, which were completely traffic free. But the pavements are completely out of action for running and the roads are all single lane at best. Since the usable road is covered in black ice it quickly became evident that there was nowhere near enough traction to do any kind of speedwork though.
Since I was already out, and the scenery was great, I just went for a gentle 10K instead and thoroughly enjoyed it. There is something very liberating about running down the middle of traffic free roads in a whiteout.:D
Something tells me the 'Extreme' part of the weather hasn't actually arrived yet, if indeed it is going to. As it stands though there is no reason at all why any schools are closed, let alone all of them. Whats wrong with a pair of wellies and a bit of walking?
Ah well, at least it means the roads will be quieter for the rest of us mid afternoon.:D
Another 10K later on will still mean a decent day's running!
Good luck to everyone else on your wintry runs.:DGt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Good for you rich, and I agree - give a child a pair of wellies! Our schools remained open yesterday - it just meant snowball fights on the way in and at lunchtime.....perfect!
My cough is far more productive now, which means it is on its way out (ok, too much information, but there you go) and I feel much better in myself, so ice permitting I will go for a gentle run this evening. Tomorrow is my midweek long run while the children are at karate. It is becoming my favourite run of the week really - nice and steady, no pressure, longish distances (8 miles +). I would like to be able to do a few more of those please!
Happy running to anyone able to get out at all today, and for those that can't, enjoy the snowball fightsSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Hypno, thanks for the cough update, but can you delay further details until after I've had my brekkie please?:p
'Nice and steady, no pressure, longish distances' - thats a description of nearly all my runs. Last week 61 miles out of the total of 70 fitted this description, which is why its so enjoyable getting out there training!:D
Enjoy it tomorrow and lets hope this means the end of your woes!!!Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

So you don't want the phlegm description then

Awww no fair Rich - no chance of me getting out today - its pure ice out there right now
I slipped twice (but not over luckily) on the two minute walk to the tube this morning
I'd rather be able to run London than be out with a broken wrist or ankle so I'm not going to risk it today as much as I want to go for a run0 -
Urrgh Rich, wintry runs? Sounds nearly as bad as Hypno's phlegm!!! Well done for getting out there though, glad you enjoyed it.
Good to hear that you're recovering Hypno, hopefully you'll feel well enough for your run later.
It's snowing again here so I'm going to walk on the treadie today, a nice brisk 3 miles I think. The forecast is looking better for tomorrow so fingers crossed.2021 MFW No.18 £9900/£10,000Mortgage at 21.07.20 £178,999 Mortgage today £150,8910
