Morning All; good to see so many smiley faces on a Sunday morning
I set out just before 8.00 this morning for my 10 miler and made a conscious effort to keep my pace to around 10:30/mile. Found it was a lot easier than Friday's 6 miles so I am very happy :T:T
10 miles - 01:46:23 (10:35/mile)

Hello to macgirl!
KYCU - I understand those fears of coming last etc. Depends who turns up for my 5 miler based on previous results as to whether I will likely be last or there will be some stragglers as the last finisher times have varied a lot. I hope the latter!
The 305 worked under the sleeves of my Paramo jacket (walking jacket that can be worn in winter so not entirely lightweight!) but not sure if that helps with the 405. 305 is most certainly not a watch to wear all the time.
I find the heart rate monitor really good as it proved the other day I really was working as hard than I thought/felt. I've also been able to see a slight decline in heart rate at given paces which is encouraging. I like it on fell walks too (cos I is a (stats) geek apparently :rotfl:!) too see what impact different inclines have.
I agree with simply about the thread being very useful to read about everyone else's experiences, good runs, bad runs, etc., and definitely the helpful advice.
Anyway, finally caught up with the thread and would like to report a 10.8 mile run this morning (started at 8am so cooler thank goodness) in 1h 55m. Pace 10:39/mile Furthest distance I've ever run!
Miles this week = 27.9 (also a first) :beer:0 -
7.89miles today, not been out in 3 weeks so was alot of run-walk-run-walk, was nice to run along the sea wall as the tide was in, nice cooling spray. Today was the first day ive worn sunglasses, on the coast road i ran in the cycle lane past all the cars queuing to get to cleethorpes. A few waves from a few little kids bored in cars, felt good though i need to start looking like a runner, not just some guy running for a bus or something. Started running about 10:50am and arrived home about 1:20pm, so was in the baking sun.
5.5mile road race wednesday through work, well not a race but more of a fun run.
Hope to run this route again, enjoyed it though might need a few more energy bars and a bigger water bottle.
I did want to get out earlier, but i could not find the running socks..0 -

Afternoon everyone. I am a real newcomer to running - and not exactly built for it;) - but have been jogging 2 to 3 times a week over the past few months, and am finding that I love it! So now I feel a bit less like a fraud - can I join the running club please?!
Having read through a few posts, I am definately one of the slowest here - today I did 3.5km in 30 minutes - and have only just start building up how long I jog for. (In about a week and a half I've gone from 20 minutes to 30 - and am v chuffed to find that I can do it - and not collapse at the end!)
Its a bit of a psychological thing for me as well I think. Having always been told I was rubbish at athletics in any form (and having a marathon running husband) I can't quite believe that I can do this and enjoy it too.
OK - long introductory ramble overOnward and upward - with the odd step to the side

krider-- ha, ha we set out at almost the same time on a run of almost the same distance - great minds and all that
That run sounded hard work Alias; have you been injured or just not able to get out??
Welcome aboard rupe34 - it looks like you've made good progress in the last couple of weeks. I'm slow too but at this stage I'm more interested in building up the distance and duration that I can run for (that's what I tell everyone anyway)

Great minds indeed simply
Good progress there rupe - we all started something like that, and in my case only back in Jan/Feb. And as simply says it is about endurance and distance first, then speed second. My 5k got faster as I started to do longer and longer other runs for example.0 -

Hey Rupe!
I'm very new to this board too, but wanted to say hi :hello: !
We sound very similar - I"m certainly not built for running (rugby more like) but was inspired to run the Great North Run whilst on Maternity a few years ago.
I entered and got in, so had to got out and train. At first I could barely manage a few 100yds without stopping. But I persevered and got up to 8m, then I got pregnant, so had to stop....
Anyway, I did get the bug and it's stayed with me. I surprised myself as I was the worst at all sports at school - especially cross-country!
I look forward to "seeing" your posts!
