Hmm, when is it? I can't do cold weather runs over half marathon distance................................. unless heated gloves/socks and armwarmers have been invented and it's guaranteed to be a dry day :D:rolleyes:

Edit: I've found out the information. 13 September sounds like a lovely time for a marathon. I'll book online when I get home tonight and save my final 1 day hol to recover on the Monday. PS: where we stopping overnight and I'll need to get up there early enough to eat fish and chips and sink a can of Guinness.

I didnt eat at all really until the next day - although I remember being quite precious about my cheese for some reason when everyone else was eating sandwiches :p:o:o

Its funny what you crave after a marathon - on the plane the next day they fed us soo much food and its the first time I've ever finished all my plane food :eek:, I must have been very hungry really!!!

Whenever I have finished a marathon, or a half for that matter, all I want is a cup of tea. After all that water and those energy drinks, a cuppa is well overdue. This time, I had some muscle repair drink made up in my bag waiting for collection at the finish. It is a bit like milkshake and I didn't really enjoy drinking it (not a milkshake fan) but I swear it made a difference. My legs have ached more this week after my hill walk at the weekend than they did after Prague.

By the time I started on wave 7 I was flippin freezing. I had warmed up before I got into place, then everything had cooled back down by the time I actually started to run.

Mo Farah and his little friends were at 9km by the time I got to just over 1km. I'll be honest though with regards to the atmposhere. I didn't hear anything as I just put my ipod on and shut everything out. I didn;t even notice any of the historic landmarks that they kept going on about :o

It was doubly impressive that Mo Farah managed to run the fastest ever 10K for a British runner given the lack of atmosphere - you see more enthusiasm/excitement at a 100 runner parkrun tbh.

What was very obvious though was the lack of club shirts - only a handful were spotted, and by that I actually saw 3!. My overall impression was that it was an event with an identity crisis.

What was it? A fun run? A charity run? A serious race? An elite race? An elite race + charity run, but no serious race? I can see why there weren't any crowds because it wasn't at all clear what it was!

That thing that looked like a big clock after a couple of minutes of running is called Ben. (or before Becky gets pedantic, its bells are!:p) and that big house in front of you at the finish is where a little old woman lives with her disfunctional family.

You should also have seen a wheel she had built for her giant hamster on the other side of the river and a building shaped like an unpopular vegetable near the turnaround point.

Just before the finish you'll have run under Prezza's former grace and favour flat and just before that a phallic looking thing in a square which is no longer covered in pigeon poo.

    Ok Becky :D

I'll research the accommodation this evening. I'd like to put faces to names and say my 'goodbye, lovely to meet you' at the start line because I just know I'll finish at least an hour and a half behind you both :rotfl:

I would suggest Lytham or St Annes as better options to stay over than either Blackpool or Fleetwood. If you think Blackpool is rough, you ain't been to Fleetwood!
