HAHAHA you should come out with me when I'm walking round London - I drive Rich mad as he's always losing me :rotfl::rotfl::D:p

Becky for some reason I now have an image of you as Billy Whizz in my head. This place is bonkers

I've already got the image of Sammy being Bubbles from Ab Fab in my head

I just typed loads in answer to richs post but lost it...grrr! my own fault fingers too fast.

Losing weight wasn't the sole motivation for running. I have run on and off for years but never kept it up - but losing weight was a strong reason to take up running properly (I actually love indoor rowing too!)

I actually didn't find my appetite increased a lot in fact it was difficult to eat before I ran and I never felt like eating after a run...what did happen whas that I justified a takeaway by telling myself I had 'earned' the right to it.

I was the classic 'I eat healthily and exercise, why am I not losing weight?' person who obviously overate...that become very apparent to me when I did the cambridge diet (a fad diet!).

    I can't do walking........its too slow....I just can't do it..drives me nuts....

So you're on the right lines because you enjoy the sport, even if to just compete against yourself.:D

The main point being that you have to be interested in running, either for the purpose of feeling good or for the competitive element, otherwise it wont be continued long term.

You see so many comments from people who intend to run until they have reached their target weight and have no interest in running per se, they would be better off not starting in the first place.

Thats why quite a few people on here (not me for once:p) got wound up when it was suggested moving the thread to the 'Health & Beauty' section that is crammed with a dieting population.

The crazy appetite at the beginning thing will not tend to happen if either a) the build up has been very gradual and/or b) the body has been used to running in the past.

Walking is slow in speed, but is far quicker in terms of losing weight!;)

At the end of the FLM there was me thinking I'd be kind and walk very slowly to let her nurse her sore legs. But no - instead I was route marched around a 3 mile detour at breakneck speed occasionally shouting 'wait for me' when I could catch my breath!:p:p

You'd better hope that I never get awarded 'Freedom of The City' then - I'd herd my sheep all over the place just to annoy you all!:p

I hate slow walkers - if you want to walk slowly go the countryside dont come to London

It was quite funny all the other runners were hobbling and they kept looking at me like 'she cant have run a marathon', but I did sit down for 20 mins before trying to walk anywhere which I reckon really helped :D

I think I managed to sit down for 3 minutes after mine until the McFlurry urge kicked in, although I suppose the 10 mile drive could constitute a 20 minute sit down!:D

But you speeded up over the last 10K of the race ...and then continued accelerating after the finish for the journey home...I'm not sure you've optimised your pace control just yet!;)
