But you speeded up over the last 10K of the race ...and then continued accelerating after the finish for the journey home...I'm not sure you've optimised your pace control just yet!;)
Nope indeed not - although you did hobble quite a bit if I remember rightly
I think I didnt run all out is part of the problem - partly because I didnt want to hit the wall, but also I wanted to be completely sure I would finish - next time I need to learn that I will finish and push a bit harder on the middle section0 -

It was also funny that the first comment you made was 'I need to do more speedwork next time' while everyone else was either muttering 'Food, food.....' or 'Never Again...':pGt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

I didnt eat at all really until the next day - although I remember being quite precious about my cheese for some reason when everyone else was eating sandwiches:o:o
Its funny what you crave after a marathon - on the plane the next day they fed us soo much food and its the first time I've ever finished all my plane food :eek:, I must have been very hungry really!!!0 -
I've got to say that I found that Bupa1000 race weird, Scorgeous!
9,000 runners and zilch atmosphere around the start and finish. There were barely any crowds even though the organisers had gone to a lot of effort putting out the barriers.
Then as the race started there were 10-12 guys involved in a race and then a large pregnant pause before the rest filed silently past. No noise at all.
I'm not sure why it was like that or whether it was just where we were standing. But we were in Parliament Square and on The Mall, areas that you would have expected to be the crush points.
We felt rather puzzled by it all!:rolleyes:Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

I only lost weight because I never got more hungry - in fact it appears I eat less calories when running a lot (but much more carbs
), anything over 40 miles a week and I find it hard to get all the food in that I should eat because I have hardly any time left in the evenings as well...
(not complaining though, am currently working out how not to get fat in the few weeks while I'm laid off)
That's the same problem I had when I was training for my marathon. I'd better sign up for one pdqThe 365 Day 1p Challenge 2025. Member #420 -

By the time I started on wave 7 I was flippin freezing. I had warmed up before I got into place, then everything had cooled back down by the time I actually started to run.
Mo Farah and his little friends were at 9km by the time I got to just over 1km. I'll be honest though with regards to the atmposhere. I didn't hear anything as I just put my ipod on and shut everything out. I didn;t even notice any of the historic landmarks that they kept going on aboutToo much month, not enough Cash!

I agree - it has to be weirdest race I've been too - nobody was talking...usually the starts of races are when everyon is chatting and laughing and enjoying themselves...I found it very odd as well that it wasnt advertised in the local press - which is a total shame because Mo was amazing and I think more people would have gone to see it if they'd known about it (I only saw the road closed signs by walknig down the road).
I also found it odd that the roads were closed till 6pm when the race started at 10!!!0
