So how many days is it meant to be before i recover from a 47 mile run?? Legs weren't really aching at all yesterday at work. The hip ached a little but on the walk home it seemed to be ore of a !!!! pain than hip pain. Oh the only other 'problem' of note is the chaffing on my lower half.

Did feel a bit tired though which is to be expected i guess. Was going to go for a 5 mile run today but i think it might be an idea to allow the chaffing damage to subside a little first.

    I don't want to find out!:p

You're probably better placed to answer that question than anyone on here, but it sounds like you're well on your way to recovery already so maybe a couple of weeks to full recovery, similar to a marathon?

Couple of weeks works well for me, twas under 3 weeks to Edinburgh after all ;)

Sure i read somewhere it is 1 day per mile of racing rest, sod that on those grounds do a 100 mile race and then take 3 months off. Not likely ;)

Knowing your body is probably the correct answer as only yourself would know if you are pushing it to fast, that and err on the side of caution by avoiding faster runs as well as perhaps excessivly long runs.

Will hopefully get out for 5 miles tomorrow to see how things feel then probably again on saturday and sunday. No need to go long between now and Edinburgh although i would like to aim towards 10 miles on Sunday. Or at least 20 over the 3 days then i've completed 2000 miles running since october 2006.

If the hip feels fine i might try some liited speedier running in a week or so just to remind the legs what 9 min miling is. I need to be doing that for all of Edinburgh to PB after all. Sorry erm no i mean sub 4 ;) PB speed is 'only' 9:30 pace which i did 12 miles or so the other weekend all at sub 70% HR.

Rich - hope it's not me being thick here but I noticed that some percentages have been added after peoples race times and I wondered what they were? I'm assuming WR = world record or is it something else?

    Cheers!
