    Right, that's me up to speed on the thread - thanks for missing me Becky :D:D

    Rich - can you take the New Forest Marathon off the list for me please as I've had written confirmation that I've got into Abingdon? :T:T

    I've been reading this WAVA malarky with interest and wasn't sure whether to give my real or 'assumed' age. I nearly pm'd Rich with my details but have decided to give all you spring chickens a laugh and make you realise how young you all are.

    Here goes ...... I am 49 (today) - Eeek, I can't believe I've just posted that on a forum!!! :rotfl::rotfl:

    Any new races that need adding/amending - let me know and I'll make the necessary changes!

    Black = Completed Races.
    Blue = Planned Races.

    The blue figures next to the results are the WAVA age grading percentage followed by the relevant world record to which the time is being compared.

    With age grading everyone is on an equal footing - the score takes out any advantage/disadvantage due to age and any advantage/disadvantage due to being male/female.

    So whatever your age or sex if you score 52% it is better than another person's 51% regardless of their age/sex.

    So what are the scores? They are quite simply a measure of your performance compared to the person who holds the world record for that distance in your age group and of your gender.

    Clearly some of the WRs are out of date, but there has to be a stable basis on which to calculate otherwise the gradings would need to be re-computed every time a WR changes.

    So, in simple terms your WAVA rating is:

    Your time is 4 x World Record 25.00%
    Your time is 2 x World Record 50.00%
    Your time is 1.5 x World Record 66.67%
    Your time is 1.25 x World Record 80.00%

    Well done krider. You are seeing the results of your training very clearly. Enjoy the Lakes, I hope the weather is kind to you. I know the New Balance shop you are talking about. I've had some great bargains from there. OH has a t-shirt with a huge New Balance logo on the back that he bought from there. When we were in a sports shop once and he was wearing it, someone asked him to get trainers in their size. :rotfl::rotfl:Funny, he hasn't worn it much since then!
    Thanks chickadee - fingers crossed on the weather. Even cool/damp will do so long as it is not torrential downpours. I'll bear that story in mind whilst we are browsing the t-shirts :rotfl: I got asked for help in Tesco once as I was wearing a blue jumper (sans Tesco logo I hasten to add)... :mad:

    Happy birthday simply!

    And welcome to granny-mo. Some really good progress there. I second the free gait analysis - several stores around here offer it. Part of the reason I bought online is my nearest running shop didn't offer me New Balance which I know from off-road approach trainers seem to really suit my foot so I went and bought the right level of stability they told me I needed online. Added bonus it was last years model and thus cheaper. If I'd not known that I would probably have bought one of the instore ones - at least the first time.
