Glad to hear you had a good trip Chick - I loved Prague when I went a few years ago and the Czech people are so friendly :D

I think your time is amazing considering the heat an humidity and glad to hear the worst bits are fading now ;)

Its very common to pick up a bug after running the marathon because the day or two after your immune system is very low so hope your gremlins b*****r off soon ;)

Dont forget to relax and enjoy your rest - its well earned :D

Hi everyone, I’m back from Prague and have had a touch of the gremlins so I haven’t been able to post for a day or two. We both had a brilliant time over there. The people were so friendly and Prague is fantastic. Definitely due another visit, when I can give the sightseeing full justice. Feeling good after the race too, with no problems even going downstairs! The race was really tough. One of the hardest I have done. It was really hot and humid (don’t trust metcheck forecasts, they are rubbish!) I had taken leggings and ¾ tights to run, but ended up buying some shorts at the expo it was so hot. There were loads of people walking the last few miles so the conditions affected lots of runners. I tried to keep going, but wilted, despite talking on fluids at every drinks station. The last few miles are a bit of a blur, and on some of my pics I look really exhausted!! The memories of the nasty bits are dulling now though, and I have an inner smugness knowing that I did it. Thanks to you all for your congratulations and I hope you are soon feeling better Becky!

:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T well done - sounds a bit scary but someone told me it was like childbirth - you forget the hard bits and only remember the good bits...:D

Its okay - I would have done the same...I ordered the photos and got the high resolution ones. They are good, I now know that I chew the inside of my mouth when I am running up a hill...

I certainly look a whole lot thinner than I did 12 months ago. :D I have sent one to my mum - she will be so proud! She will probably be telling people I am running the olympics.

5.1 miles done today in 52.11 after 6 miles yesterday in 1:00:00. Quite pleased with the cumulative mileage - wasn't long ago that 3 miles required 48 hours rest! Mind I think if I keep running at lunchtime I need water in this weather. The wind today was great for the first half of the run to cool me down, then I was sheltered and got quite hot.

Also pleased as I checked my stats and since May began my longer runs (> 4.5 miles) are averaging 10 to 10:30 minute miles wheras even 6 weeks ago even shorter runs were much closer to 11 minute miles. Was quite chuffed to realise that after still feeling fed up at my single run pace! Patience is a virtue I need to acquire...

Will probably not be doing much running in the next 10 days as we are off to the Lakes on Friday. Lots of mileage, lots of hills, but I'm definitely keeping the pace at walking :o Oooh, and a visit to the New Balance factory shop :j

Well done krider. You are seeing the results of your training very clearly. Enjoy the Lakes, I hope the weather is kind to you. I know the New Balance shop you are talking about. I've had some great bargains from there. OH has a t-shirt with a huge New Balance logo on the back that he bought from there. When we were in a sports shop once and he was wearing it, someone asked him to get trainers in their size. :rotfl::rotfl:Funny, he hasn't worn it much since then!
