Just wanted to say Hello YorkshireLass. Its very quiet on here tonight.0
-
Yorkshire Lass - thats exactly why we dont recommend run/walk here - soory you got injured though, but hopefully soon you'll be ready to start running again with a great solid foundation
I am still ill so didnt go out for the 5k this morning but Rich went and he'll post his time shortly
Wondering if I'll even geta run in tomorrow at this rate, but at least stuff has started to shift out of my sinuses now...0 -
Hello YorkshireLass - very informative first post and some good advice
I'm happy with a 5k yesterday under 30 mins :j Followed rich's advice on pushing it out a bit after warming up and it paid off. Not a long warm down (or even run) as I was pressed for time at lunchtime and on a short route.
I did 3.1m in 29m 46s so seeing some progress already - especially as the first 1.8 miles or so were very steady warm up pace :cool:0 -
Is it OK to run with a sore throat? Don't feel ill any other way.0
-
Well I've been poorly with a cold from Sunday to Wednesday so I went out for a run last night but as I need to start up-ing the mileage I decided to run to my friends house instead of driving, and therefore also ran back. I can't say I ran 100% of the time, but the wee rests are getting fewer now which is good. I found it quite hard on my lungs from the previous few days of cold but I did a total of 5.48 miles :j
I've found the walk jog run website far more user friendly for plotting out routes tooGood wine needs to breathe, if it stops breathing try mouth to mouth.0 -

Very pleased with this morning considering it was the 4th race since last Saturday and still came away with a Parkrun PB!!:D:D (previous best 19:21).
Also pleased with the strength, coming through from 21st at the end of the first lap to finish 14th.:D
Becky is still a little too ill to run so the Orpington cake run has been given a swerve this afternoon!
Rachel - A sore throat shouldn't stop you running, but you must not even entertain the idea of going out if it starts to migrate to the chest/lungs. There is then a realistic danger of doing permanent damage and reducing lung capacity as a result.
Krider - Well done on the sub 30! Every target reached spurs you on that little bit more so no doubt we'll see a sub 29 in the not too distant future!
YORKSHIRELASS - I think you're doing the right thing and will see much more progress in the medium term than if you were to run/walk/run. You should also be much more robust into the bargain to guard against future injuries.:DGt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

More fab running I see..........well done guys - especially those working extra hard on their rest days :T
I am going to go for a jog round the block tomorrow if it kills me (which it may), otherwise I fear my body will forget how to run for ever moreSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Another milestone today - coming thick and fast
- 8.8 miles run in 1h 35 mins. Was planned for tomorrow but realised early this afternoon that a local 1/2 marathon is being run closer to home (and therefore across my routes) tomorrow morning which would have been problematic!
Grabbed the chance to get out while I could - but rewarded with wine and choc now :rotfl:
21 miles this week as well (slowly working towards the 30...), and whilst I am feeling the legs slightly tonight, nothing too major so pleased with that as well.0 -
