really. I am still not sure if I can last from 5pmthe night before until 10am before eating. I feel I might die of starvation before then!!

THanks for the advice krider, I am so worried about injuring myself. Can I ask if you have problems when you initially started running. I dod half an hor o Friday and I've snice come down with a chest infection - they are not related are they? I did not push myself too much?

Talking of hills, is there a way of getting one of those contour graphs? I live in rural west Wales and we have plenty of hills and as a beginner, I try to avoid them :p

I use GIS software in work and really should look and see if I can do it there (Multimap if anyone is techy)??

Wow, it's busy on here today and so many new recruits too - it's great when we get new people coz it makes me less of a newbie!!!

    Firstly tonight's run - 4 miles 00:37:52 (09:25/mile)

Now, I have a dilemma and I need to consult the experts among us. I checked my diary at work today and have realised that I need to drive to a conference on 28 September - the day after I have planned to run the New Forest Marathon. Given that this is my first ever marathon attempt is it unrealistic to expect to be able to drive 120 miles the following day?

Well I travelled to NY after mine ;)

It really does depend on you I think - see how you feel after some of the longer runs (16 miles plus) and it will give you an idea, but then I am always stiff after those and was fine to fly/lug my bag around on the train etc etc...

simply - I was fine driving - it was walking that I had the problem with!

Oooo I've got a real itch to race this Sunday - Rich do you fancy this - £15 entry on the day (the half of course ;)), 20 minutes away by train :D:
    http://www.onesportevent.com/Detail.aspx?eventid=2659

25 entries last year - you might win it! :D

How did you find that one?

I'd be up for a half on Saturday but I'd be worried about getting lost with such a small field!:p What if you cant see the runner in front or behind - it might become a marathon by the time you find your way back.;)

I want to do the Parkrun this Saturday though but shouldn't be a problem doing both!:D Its all good miles in the legs....and should warm you up nicely for Sunday's 22!;)

Anyway, in terms of longer into the future the Fleetwood Marathon will be 18 weeks away on Sunday. As an intermediate target at the 9 weeks stage I have decided to have a serious crack at breaking 60 minutes for 10 miles and have targetted the Eccup 10 Miles in Leeds as fit for purpose. Very tough but no point in setting easy targets:D...5:59/mile will do nicely!

The thinking being that should the 60 minute 10 mile be achieved it will then be realistic to think about securing a place for VLM2010 BEFORE lining up at the start of the Fleetwood Marathon.

    Now I'm focussed..........:D:D
    Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j
    Blackpool Marathon 11/4/2010 (Target=2:59:59) (6:52/mile)
    Abingdon Marathon 17/10/2010, (Target=2:48:57) (6:27/mile)

Thanks Becky - I didn't want to leave it too long before entering in case I missed out again. To be honest I'm so stubborn that as long as I could move I would probably drive it anyway.

But ............ I've just checked on the Abingdon Marathon website, they've updated the Runners List, and it looks as though unless there is someone with the same name as me in the same age group - I AM IN!!!!!!!! :j:j:j

Whereas Becky was fine walking - it was driving she had the problem with! (might be something to do with the fact that she's never learnt though!:p)

Drat Saturday - was hoping it as Sunday ;), but thats cool for me - is 1pm start so no worries and undulating so I suspect that 1:50 wont be on but can have a crack if I fancy it on the day :D

Nice target - if you dont do it before fleetwood you can always aim for the st albans 10 next year - I'm going for a nice tough target for that one as its great to run :D
