Hi all, yes I know I've been missing in action recently. Sorry, I've been too busy to turn around, but I've been having a quick catch up on here every now and again, but no time to post.

Great to see lots of new runners getting the bug too.

Been for a little tootle around tonight. Everything seems to be in working order. :D

I love the sound of the Orpington race. Toilet break at No 79 - brilliant!

A colleague of mine is toying with the idea of doing a marathon somewhere in France, where they have food & wine breaks at regular intervals. Apparently the participants aren't expected to finish before 6 hours or so, but are expected to indulge in various French delicacies as part of the experience! I'm not sure it's for me, but each to his own.

Becky - totm - I feel really hot, and my legs feel like lead for a day or two. You aren't alone hun. :o

Evab - I really fancy having a crack at Snowdonia. I'll see how I get on this weekend before setting my next target.

I like the look of this Orpington race on Saturday!:D

It seems it is a bit of an accidental event, coming about because a chap got rejected from FLM but still wanted to run the distance at around the same time of year so mapped out a route.

He mentioned what he was doing to a few people and it turns out there was one or two people of the same mind. Hence, in the first year (which I think was 2005) there were 6 finishers. So a large turnout really considering.

Then someone came up with the idea of doing it again the next year on a convenient date...and 10 people got involved. But just a training run really on a rough and ready course.

Of course then someone wanted to do it the next year...so a half marathon was added and running laps round the track so spectators didnt get bored.

But now its got to the point of maybe 15 in the marathon and 25-30 in the half its kinda becoming a race without it ever being intended to do so. So a drinks station was added, a roving drink station I might add....which seems to be a bloke in a car driving around looking for thirsty runners!:p

Runners then decided they needed more drinks and maybe the odd loo stop....... so a couple of unfortunates who lived close to the route 'volunteered' to accomodate the weak bladdered participants by opening up their bathrooms.

The event is bound to go from strength to strength now that cake is offered at the end.:D

Just a couple of gripes from previous participants. It would appear that whoever provides the comfort breaks at 79 Lynwood Grove doesn't have quilted loo roll (so take note Becky, you'll need to take your own:p) and there seems to be an unnecessary restriction of 4ft 6ins for the bouncy castle at the end......a wee bit sizeist if you ask me!!!:D

Ha, ha, that race looks ace Rich and cake at the end too. What more could you want?

Thanks for all the replies about driving folks, luckily if I am running Abingdon it won't be a problem coz I won't be running New Forest in September. Two marathons in 3 weeks might be a little ambitious for a beginner :rotfl::rotfl:

    Chick
, I am going to be away at a seminar for the next few days so probably won't get online - if I remember correctly you're off to Prague this weekend so I wanted to wish you all the best. Hope you have a great run - Enjoy :j:j

What a fantastic race rich - I am all for anything offering cake at the end.......where do I sign up :rotfl:

I've still not done any more running (other than RFL) - my legs still feel somewhat heavy and achy - probably BECAUSE I did RFL so soon after FLM......

I know that I need to run the aches out of them, but it is just the getting out and doing it that is the difficult bit!!!

    Happy running everyone x

Wow I've found a cracker there :D - its on runners world so bound to be more than 25 this year ;), Rich do you want to email the organisers and check its still okay to register on the day??

Dont worry Hypno - you're supposed to have two weeks rest anyway - short 2 milers are the way to go if you're still feeling tired in the legs :D

I am still jet lagged and have to face my email inbox this morning - noooooooooo, but am going to run this evening home from work and see how I feel - hopefully better than yesterday :D

Good to see you're running again evab - hope the target is smashed in RFL :)

Have a nice time away Simply :D

Oooo Chick - exciting times coming up - when do you travel out??

It is okay to register on the day. And it was on RW as early as 2006 so they wont be outnumbering London just yet.:p

The course is a little long. Well it maybe a little long but I think the measurer has one or two problems driving mapmyrun...so a bit extra was added just to be sure!:p

In other words, if you get a PB...it will be a good PB:D

Chick - I bet you wish you weren't going to Prague now dont you, now that Becky has found a race with cake?;)

If my legs weren't like Lead I'd do that race...just really for the cake and to check out the toilet facilities ;)

Got up at 6am and have already been running..made me realise how much I have missed those early morning runs throughout the summer :) I am happy happy happy although my knees are saying different!

Anyway nice gentle 5 miles and raring to go out again now and get started on my nice new shiny plan - thanks Becky :)

Felt smooth enough this morning, so no after effects from the combination of the 19.5 miler plus 10K race thankfully!:D

Roll on this evening's Spencer Arms Dash - I get the feeling that it is going to feel even tougher than usual but it should still provide the same benefits as the speedwork it is replacing.

    Happy running everyone.:D:D
