Hehe Just read the notes for that Orpington run on Saturday.

It really sounds like fun, completely informal. In particular love the notes about comfort breaks:

After ½ mile you pass Breakspears Drive on the left.
Toilets and refreshments available at no. 6. Do not go
down Breakspears Drive unless you want a comfort break

50 yards on the right, there are toilets and refreshments available at 79 Lynwood Grove.

Its sounds like tea and scones and a sit down in the front lounge!!:D:D

OMG I live in a strange town, a woman here is fighting to get a passport issued because she changed her name after doing a charity event to Pudsey Bear!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Why oh why oh why?

Totally off topic but my running will improve coz I'll be very quickly heading in the opposite direction if I see her.

Wow, it's busy on here today and so many new recruits too - it's great when we get new people coz it makes me less of a newbie!!!

    Firstly tonight's run - 4 miles 00:37:52 (09:25/mile)

Now, I have a dilemma and I need to consult the experts among us. I checked my diary at work today and have realised that I need to drive to a conference on 28 September - the day after I have planned to run the New Forest Marathon. Given that this is my first ever marathon attempt is it unrealistic to expect to be able to drive 120 miles the following day?

Simply I drove the 3 hours home after the marathon and was fine. I think if you are doing motorway with not much gear change you will be fine but if its lots of start and stops your thighs might be a bit painful!
I'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....

I'd say quite the opposite, actually - I find I get quite bad cramps sometimes when motorway driving - as my left foot just doesn't do anything for so long...so after a marathon I'd probably stop every hour at some services for a stretch and a womble about (hell, who am I kidding, probably a well-deserved Mars milkshake, too :))...
