I'm pleased to report that the remnants of the virus have finally gone and, for the first time this week, I really enjoyed my run. My legs felt stronger and had much more bounce in them. :j I'm not sure that I ran the correct route around the Country Park for the 10k but I enjoyed running round exploring different areas - along by the sea, through a bluebell wood and I found some nice shady trails. Lovely!!!!

Best of all I ran 10 MILES (Sorry, I didn't mean to shout) 01:48:24 (10:44/mile)- I'm very happy with that. :D:D

Simply, that sounds like a lovely run and well done on your furthest ever. That was a very quick update of your siggy, you must be pleased!

I love discovering new routes, and if they take you through bluebell woods and shady trails, so much the better! It is a great feeling when the training pays off and something just 'clicks' and suddenly you are really enjoying your run, not puffing and panting. Well done you! :T

    Week2 (Abingdon)
    Mon27/4 Rest Day
    Tues28/4 Rest Day
    Weds29/4 14.0 Miles 1:49:14 (7:48/mile) (Pulse108)
    Thurs30/4 10.0 Miles Fartlek 1:15:39 (7:34/mile) (Pulse 100)
    Fri1/5 10K 47:21 (7:38/mile) (Pulse 102)
    Sat2/5 Parkrun Leeds Hyde Park 5K 19:41 (6:21/mile) (Posn 24th)
    Sun3/5 19.5 Miles 2:35:34 (7:59/mile) (Pulse 98)

More than happy with that run!:D

There's no doubt now that the bulk interval sessions have significantly lifted the 'steady pace' across the board. That is exactly what they're supposed to do, but I'm surprised how quickly the effect has happened. This session was done at 3:27 marathon pace on a hilly course...and it is only 4 weeks after the marathon after all so cant be anything other than pleased with that.

It will now be interesting to see how that run affects tomorrow morning's 10K race?

Not had chance to catch up on the thread yet, and much in need of a shower and food, but well done to anyone who has been out enjoying these great running conditions. Wont be long before Hypno's report either.:D

Firstly a huge well done to little Miss x - you have every right to be proud, Sally :T

I did the race for life in 28.46 :D

But running the marathon last weekend was easier :o

DD was 5 seconds ahead of me and my student finished in 25 mins.

Thanks chick it was a great feeling after struggling a bit this week; bet you can't wait to get packed and on your way. I'm looking forward to your race report!!

Rich - well done on your run today - your pace is amazing!!!!

Well done Hypno - it looks like your enthusiasm for running is rubbing off on those around you. :D

Can someone advise on Sorbowotsits please? Are the sizes very accurate? My trainers are 6 1/2 and the insoles come in 5-6 or 7 so I'm not sure whether to up or down a size.

well i was pleased with myself till that post :rotfl:.

    nice running rich

I have redone my route for next week so hopefully under 2hr for 15m is my target... might take a few trys but hopefully not long.. :D

I have also re-planned my speed work instead of 1m hard then 2min gentel.. going to try 1/2m hard then 1/2m gentel x 6... see if i get on with it more that way :)

As always there seems to be a lot going on with today being Sunday!:D:D

Sally, nice to hear that your DD enjoyed her run, sounds like she's a natural competitor. Then again, kids DO love running given the chance....the most natural thing in the world.:D

Simply - There's no stopping you now is there! Did you find that it was more comfortable running your first 10 miler than when you ran your first 4 miler. If so, its because your body has now got used to a routine and is second guessing what you expect of it.:D

Hypno - You should be delighted with that. If you ran the same race next week it would be quicker as the marathon unwinds, but nonetheless 28:46 means that you've certainly got it in you to hit the 27min 5k, 56min 10K, 2hour 1/2 marathon targets in the next few weeks. Well done.

Chickadee - Glad to hear you're not planning on getting plastered next Saturday night!:p:p And there'll be no need for me to get Becky back into training...trust me!!;)

UK - You'll certainly get down to 2hrs for 15 miles in time. Try not to turn your long runs into time trials though otherwise you may well hit a plateau very quickly or find that you cant even manage times that you felt comfortable with a few weeks earlier. Its far easier to use races, in particular half marathons, to bring the speed and distance elements of your training together. Good luck with the speedwork.

Oooo meant to say good luck Chick :D

Sammy - Robin hood = very very hilly, I looked at it for a while, but its not a pb course - expect toughness ;)

PB:rotfl:errrr I will just be looking to run it.....will be my first half...(and maybe my last:D)

Simply - that is great (I am a little behind!)

Hypno....well done, its too late for me to enter my RFL this year (its full) but I might run round with Snaggles anyway....(I might even do one of the others in my area)

Thanks sammy; I'm really happy to get that one under my belt. I almost feel like a real runner now. :D

Rich - it was certainly a lot easier than my first 4 miler - in fact it was easier than any other run I've done this week. It just felt 'right' if that makes sense??

Sammy, its a stiff test but its all relative.

I think Becky was looking more at the course for the marathon, which is tougher. The 1/2 marathon, with a winning time of 1hr 05 mins albeit by one of the whippet like Kenyans:p, may have hills but they'll be manageable. On the flip side, there were 4 people took over 5 hours...for a 1/2 marathon!:eek:
