I think maybe I need to find out the definition of a 'hill' in the running world. I live at the top of a hill and wherever I run I have to do what I consider 'hills', but I am a bit worried that when someone says a course is hilly that my version of a hill might also just be a speed bump!!
I'd say hills are anything that affect your time.
The Great North Run has some significant climbs that go on a fair while, but they cant be said to affect your time when the course has produced the world record on numerous occassions. So they're not hills.:D
If the race organisers have a tough course they call it 'Undulating'. If they call it 'Hilly' be afraid, be very afraid!:p:pGt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

I wanted to kill you too at one or two points along the way - you said you would take over at 20 miles and run the last 6 for me......I looked for you to hand over my number but you were nowhere to be seen.
Some people just can't be relied on......
Oh yeah....sorry about that!:o
But it was rather hot and by that stage I was pretty tired from all that arduous spectating.;)Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

In my defence, I think the chances of finding you at 20 miles would have been pretty slim. By that point my eyes were merging everyone together in a blob of runnerdom!:p
And furthermore, I wouldn't have wanted to deny you the opportunity to get the piccie that currently resides on your profile!:D:DGt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

I would be happy with 25 mins! But yes, I can see that you slowed down quite a lot - I find it really difficult to slow down over those first couple of miles, so I know where you are coming from.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground.
