More like an obstacle course then uk! Still, a good number of miles done, even with the distractions!

    Well done, UK.

Thats the great thing about long runs - there's no pressure to push the pace so if unexpected 'incidents' happen you can be totally relaxed about them.

I fancy a trip on that invisible boat next week when I'm down - any ideas how I find it?:p

And it seems to be the norm to ride bikes after having a skinfull in London.

Anyway, hope you enjoyed the run nonetheless - it looks like about the right effort level and should have been pretty comfortable for you after your 1-45 half last week.:D

The run was fine... just dont feel like i did the 15.5m because I had to stop... but maybe next week ;)...

You and becky can run off in front to keep all bridges down and keep people on their bikes... and I might just dip under 2h :D

I'm planning on a 20 miler in Hyde Park next Sunday - there's no bridges or drunken cyclists(?) in there!

However, its always interesting as you pass the fun at Speaker's Corner and pass through the roller blading areas.

Btw Have you noticed how often you see pairs of male and female runners in London whereby the male is running 20-30m ahead to show his 'superior fitness' I noticed this a few weeks ago and ever since have seen it more and more. Whats the point of going for a run together and then running 20-30m apart?

I did notice one pair like that today.. he even slowed down at the lights to wait before shooting off again.... from my own view point i would think it would be a better veiw being 20m behind the females ;)... ohhh how i love race day... lol

Thats a shame that the back hasn't fully healed up by now - there's still another week to go.

Having said that, you got plenty training done previously and with your 10K getting close to 50mins you've certainly got the ability to maintain a decent pace.

So, as always, caution at the start and you'll probably find that you're in pretty good nick. 10 mile warm up, 10 mile run plus 10K race ...the marathon mantra!!:D:D

Good luck with the final week preparation. When are you going to Prague?

Thanks Rich, I went out for a run yesterday evening and did exactly 5 miles in exactly 45 minutes. That included a section of steep uphill so I haven't completely lost it! The back is now feeling much better (touch wood) and so I can't really see that I have any excuses for not finishing at least. Exactly one week from now I will hopefully be at about the 18 mile mark!

We leave on Friday morning, so it would be good to have got the expo/registration thing done on Friday, to leave us the whole of Saturday to chill out and drink beer.
What would you recommend I do for the final week? Keep the mileage low but get out three or four times?

I have to say, I feel much calmer this time than in the run-up to any other marathon I have done before. Tbh there is so much other stuff going on at the moment, the race is about no 3 on my list of things to worry about. Way behind wedding preps and a really busy and stressful period at work.

OH has just finalised our honeymoon plans. We are off to Scotland (Loch Linnhe) then on to Skye and the Hebrides. With all that countryside and long, secluded beaches, we'll definitely be getting in some running whilst we are there. Can't wait!
