:hello: I'm still here plodding away - Recovery run tonight - 4 miles - 41:33 (10:20/mile) I was thinking earlier that the number of people posting was dwindling; where is everybody???
I'm looking forward to Sunday's run - I'm due for an 8 miler so I'm going to run down to the local Country Park where my 10k race is being held on 17th. I thought it would be worth familiarising myself with the route before the day and it will make a change from my usual run.
scourgeous - I think you will be surprised by the progress you'll make by September. I only started running outside in February and entered my first race, 5 miles, a couple of weeks ago and was by no means last. Stick with it and keep posting - you'll get loads of support on here.2021 MFW No.18 £9900/£10,000Mortgage at 21.07.20 £178,999 Mortgage today £150,8910 -
Good luck with the 8 miler, Simply.
Its always a good idea to familiarise yourself with courses in advance if possible and take away some of the unknowns so good planning!!!:D:D:DGt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

I was a a big non fan (can;t think of a word for it) but i agree they raised a lot of money...and at least they completed itQuality is doing something right when no one is looking - Henry Ford

Im not hiding but my internet's not great here
Oooo I feel rough - got bought a drink called the dead poet - so bad they let you keep the glass it comes in - I had two after mucho other drinks - got a derby party to go to on Sat and my friend is bringing both me and my other friend a hat to wear - cool.
But no running done, its okay though - I feel a bit antisocial leaving my friend to go out, but I'm happy not to do too much anyway as I am supposed to be recharging my batteries on this trip and in fact have be doing lots and lots!
Happy running all!0 -
Ukevas Rolls in,,,,
Im just not built for speed work..
Ukevas falls over....... gimme 10m steady run anyday over 3 sprinting miles..
Still nice 15m planed for Sunday... let the Athens onslaught begin.... ( out of breath allready )
Plan is to increase the long run by 2 miles per month and the shorter weekly run buy 1m per month then hoprfulle by November I should be ready for it...running 16m x 3 and 25m long run the month before then easying back... something along them lines anyway( just a rough plan at the moment and hopefully i will stay injury free for it....and use the 2 1/2 marathons as intermitent goals to keep me going

That looks pretty logically thought out, Uk.
The longest run at 25 miles looks a bit lengthy, its usual to limit them to around 22 miles even for the most elite athletes. Otherwise the risk is that you deaden your legs during the period when you're trying to peak for the race.
But a lot of things are marginal and it depends how you personally react to different sessions.
Good luck though - you've certainly got a great base to start from with a 1-45 half under your belt.:DGt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Thanks rich.... good words of wisdom as usuall... i very much hope to get at least 25m in once.. ( hopefully right at the start of october ) one for the confidence factor of hiting the type of distance. Plus with the course like it is in Athens with up hill section of the race over training slighty would be very helpfull i think...anyway we will see what happens
..
At the moment im training for it slowly but im very much looking forward to the Bristol Half... where as the Southend one is more of just a filler.. but at least i will be able to get a lemon top.
