Just to roll the conversation back a little, I was quite impressed by the effort made by PA and KP in terms of training - KP having done 18 miles and PA 21 - they also ran with (iirc) KP's brother, sister and all their management team - and doubtless they'll have been slowed down a lot by fans, media attention etc...And they raised > 250k between them, so I reckon they did a pretty good job overall - certainly nowhere near as bad as certain half-hearted celebs that have had a go in the past...

Yeah, I'm no fan of theirs, but hats off to them. I understand it was Jordan's dodgy knee that forced them to stop running and walk to the end.

    Morning everyone

See y'all been out clocking up the miles again. I so will never catch up :D

I did go out and do just over 5k last night again but I've got a bit of shinsplints from Tuesday so I was a lot slower last night and felt like I was carrying a dead weight. Was quite painful, but do feel a bit better today.

I think my plan for now is to maybe try 5k every other day and see how I feel. There is a 10k in September which I think I might give a try and maybe see if I can get a couple of 5k races in before then. Obviously I'll be the last one home as it will be a run for me, not a race as I won't be quick enough, but I'll give it a go.

Does this sound like an ok plan to you experienced runners?

    That sounds fine, scorgeous.

Well, all except the bit about being last that is - just keep doing what you feel comfortable with on a regular basis and its unlikely you will be last.:D

    Thanks Rich

I will be last, but I don't mind, as looking at the results of other 5ks, ppl are coming in at 17 minutes etc, I'd be happy just to make it in under 30 minutes. I think for me at the moment, that will be my personal goal, to be able to do 5k in under 30 minutes.

    Scorgeous, where are you?

The Parkrun are ideal for your purposes. Times range from 15 mins to 50 mins but I'll guarantee that you wont feel out of place. They're run every Saturday at 9am.

Whats more they're FREE. Take a look at parkrun.com to see if there's one near to you.

    Rich,
Just had a look but unfortunately they don't do any runs near me. Never mind, will stick to the being last in scenario :)

Wow its been quiet on here today! Where is everyone - travelling to far flung places for the BH weekend?

Just had a nice evening run and feel good, ready for a series of 4 races in 8 days - 5K tomorrow, 10K Monday, 3.7 Miles Wednesday and 5K Saturday. Therefore, no need for any speedwork sessions next week.

So far we've had 7 successful marathon attempts on the thread since December :

    Poorbabe - Negril, Jamaica
    KMStuart - Cyprus
    Rich - Blackpool
    Sallyx - London
    Becky - London
    Hypno - London
    Rustybucket - London

A pretty impressive performance...and now the attention turns to attempt number 8, Chickadee in Prague in 9 days time........where are you Chick and how's the preparation going?
