Hey Pepper,
PM me your email address and send me the plan and me and Rich will have a look, because I've been very hard on myself in the past and its only since I've started easing off that I've been able to get good times in races - there has to be an amount of easy runs in your plan in order to build strength0 -
Thanks Becky - I will do that now! Your a star!:hello:  Hoping to be down to Loan Only by Christmas:j Getting there! :T0

Hi guys, I'm back again and am very happy!!!! I thought that I would try running for longer today after my 30 minute sessions during the week. I set the treadmill for 45 minutes at a speed of 6.5 (upping to 6.6 now and again) and ran 4.89 miles :j :j :j
Now...... whilst I was running I formulated a plan and thought that I would ask all you experts if you thought that it was feasible.
There are a couple of 10k runs being held locally towards the end of March. My plan is to run 2/3 30 minute sessions during the week, slowly upping the speed that I run at, and then running a longer, slower session at the weekend. By adopting this approach do you think that I would be ready to tackle a 10k at the end of March??? Any comments/advice wil be gratefully received.2021 MFW No.18 £9900/£10,000Mortgage at 21.07.20 £178,999 Mortgage today £150,8910 -

Thats a really good session, Simply, at just over 9 minute/mile so well done.:D
In terms of your plan, that sounds like a perfectly reasonable approach. The only difference I would make is to make the longer run and one of the 30 minute runs easy runs that you run as comfortably as possible and save all your effort for one dedicated session each week where you push the pace.
Most cardiovascular adaptation comes from really easy running, too much 'effort' work will actually slow down your progress despite being counter intuitive!
Good luck.Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Well, events overtook me somewhat today, so no run done.......again.
But....on the plus side, this is the first day my feet have not felt sore, so am going out for a run tomorrow morning and will just see how far I get. I will be taking it steady and doing circuits of the village so never far from home if the going gets too tough......
Hope everyone is having a good weekend.......plenty of running going on!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -

Thanks Rich, I'll give that approach a try.
I really enjoyed my run today and can't wait to get a few more sessions under my belt. I think that I'm a bit too competitive even when running on my own and I always want to push harder. I'll just have to learn to take it easy :rotfl:2021 MFW No.18 £9900/£10,000Mortgage at 21.07.20 £178,999 Mortgage today £150,8910
