Thanks for the advice Gillz. My daughter comes out with me on some of my walks but she won't run with me. Chickadee glad you had a good weekend and stunning photographs makes me very envious.

Well my 2 week sick period is over, after the bruised / cracked 2nd rib. Not lifted a foot in the past week, thought i was on the mend as fired out 40 pressups, no pain there so saturday morning went for a run of about 2.8miles. It half killed me, either i started off too fast, or should not have eaten before. Hopefully be out again tonight, might run a normal 5k to get things back into the swing of things.

Completed the 10k road race in 1hr 3mins, which was good, even with stopping & starting due to the chest pain.

I can be found on - Marathon Photos as number 3203.

Though, i was in serious need of a haircut & a shave.

On the other note, was thinking of making the GNR as my next goal. 13.1miles.

Great North Run, but at £42 for entry seams a little steep.

Well done on your run Alias :D:D , considering how rough you were feeling you were very close to breaking the magic 60 minutes so thats got to be encouraging :D

Dont do GNR - its loads expensive - there are much better halfs - give us a rough date and the best location and we'll find you one :D

I noticed it was £42, but that seams fair, as its a high profile run. The £42 is price to enter on your own, unsure on the charity side of thing, but i would be doing this for me, the charity is good health, the charity is me.

I keep checking the running bug, and runners world for events. But not many in the lincolnshire area, a few small 5ks coming up but nothing that will be testing.

    Afterthought..

I forgot to say that i did the 10k, hung over, de-hydrated and with no breakfast. I thought it would of been a good idea to go out the night before. I turned up late to the start, began 25mins late. But i think ive said this a few pages back, i cant remember.

    Alias,

You cant enter the GNR by just paying £42 now. The ballot places closed a while back. And this is for an event that is more than 5 months away!!!

As for charities - they've basically got a stranglehold on the event in the same way as with FLM. Being forced to become a charity fundraiser just because you want to run a half marathon/marathon is what gets up most runner's noses!

    Alias,

I can understand wanting to do GNR - I would love to - its the biggest running event in the world I think!!! But £42 is A LOT of money...

    Is there anything on here:

I'm thinkng about doing Fleetwood half and Bristol Half in September before Abingdon mara in October :D

Surely you cant be far from the Robin Hood half and marathon??
