    I'm back!!!

I had a lovely run - 12 club members and a dog joined me, which was really really nice of them. The decision was that it was to be a "run in the spirit of running" so you could go off faster, but at certain points on the course everyone waited for the back marker so that no-one was left out on the course, but that people could still stride out a bit too.

We had lots of lovely conversation, and I was amazed that firstly I wasn't the slowest, but also that my mins per mile was regularly below 9 mins a mile for decent intervals :j

We all got back to the pub (!) in 66 mins, so not a constant run, but one that my Dad would have been proud to have been a part of.

It did show me though, that I CAN go faster - and I DO need people to run with occasionally, so after FLM I will be looking at finding a run club that will fit in with my busy life, and will try and get some more social running in.

It must have been a good run - it ended in a pub!

Sounds like a fun event and seems to have given you a boost in confidence just at the right time.

Are some of those with you doing the actual race as well?

    Simply,

Surely the time was accurate though, so if you ran the same course 3 minutes quicker that represents a genuine performance improvement?

Or am I misunderstanding how these Nike thingamyjigs work?

No, you're not misunderstanding Rich, I was just a bit surprised that I'd run it that quickly when it was my third consecutive day and some of the hilly bits were really tough. I think you're right about the improvement though as I can really feel a difference in my performance. :D:D

Hypno - glad the run went well and well done on the pace, you've every right to be pleased. I remember reading your posts from a little while ago when you were sure that you'd never get below 10/mile. :T

Most of those who ran tonight will be marshalling or doing drinks stations etc tomorrow, so it gave them an opportunity to do a bit of a run on the same course as well, which was nice for them too.

It was just really nice that everyone pulled together - no one was selfish in any way, and I know that is exactly what Dad would have done - he never left a local race until the last person had crossed the line, and gave them the biggest cheer when they did - regardless of whether he knew the person or not.

Yes, it has boosted my confidence, and I thoroughly enjoyed it - quite hilly, but lovely.

Yup, bags packed and ready to go - tonight was potentially my last run of any length before FLM - although I will be taking my kit with me and looking to see if the roads are runnable.....there is a treadmill in the sports centre opposite my apartment if I get really desperate!!

    Happy Easter everyone

Excellent running and sounds like a lovely group of people. Have to say I found running with a group a bit strange to start with but now I love it and getting some miles in whilst being sociable!
Have a lovely holiday and enjoy your family time
