At least I wasn't talking to the chap next to me, trying to recruit him to the thread!:p
PS You're right about pulling weird faces, but then when I look at everyone else there's some that are even weirder!:pGt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Back from my 8 miles on a lovely sunny morning...although that wind is a bit gusty out there.
Anyway :j 1:16.49 so that makes it 9:35 per mile and im happy with that. Last two 8 mile runs I did were 1:23.32 and 1:29.46 so nice to see the improvement down on paper. Training seems to be coming together nowI'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....

Well done Sally - some great running there
Well I've yet to see anyone appear with 'I got told about this at a race in St Albans' so maybe I'm not as good as I thought at recruiting people either - and Hypno - I look like that all the time no worries there0 -
geoffro thats a great start, i know people that do the circuit training with me that couldnt manage 18 mins of brisk walking so you should be happy with yourself. Getting out is the most important thing that you could be doing as it all helps. It took me ages to get the courage up to run outside, i hide myself away on the treadmill when no one was in the gym as i was scared of what people would think of me running, but iv done it a few times now and love it outside especially at night when you can look up and see all the stars shining brightly, such a wonderful feeling.
Rich, a sub 20 min 5km is some going hope you get it, youll be up with paula radcliffe at this rate for your FLM run. Id be happy to get sub 25 for a 5km and sub 55 for 10km.Running Club5KM - 25:20(51.21%) 10KM - 53:40(50.26%)1/2 Marathon - 2.14.57(44.20%)Marathon 5:11:00 (40.78%)0 -
Shhh I'm aiming for 26 minutes for 5K on that course tomorrow - but I'd love to be under 250
-
Geoffro - Thats exactly the way to do it. The more you walk now the better you will be able to run later.
Sally - Wow, quite an improvement there, I take it your bruised, erm, parts have fully recovered from the other day then?
JJ - Unfortunately I'm not doing FLM, I've got 3 weeks less to my marathon in Blackpool on 5th April. I thought the sub 20:00 attempt was a bit further away until I did the same race 2 weeks ago and was given a time of 20:05. That one took me by surprise, but it must mean sub 20:00 is on the cards.
And I've only just gone through those marks you mention of 25:00 for 5K and 55:00 for 10K about 5-6 weeks ago, so you're not far behind!:DGt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Oh and dont let him fool you JJ - Rich has managed a PB in every one of those 5ks so far - he is so on for 19 minutes0
-
Sally that is an excellent improvement!!! I managed 8 miles in 1:25 a couple of weeks ago, so if I could make a similar improvement over the next few weeks/months I would be well chuffed!!! You have given me something to aim for nowSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes.
