Hellloo!
Well the good news is that my feet are no worse for having done their little run around the block last night - so that is a positive sign I reckon.
So, I have to be careful not to do too much too soon, allowing them to finish healing, and breaking in the still-new trainers at a more sensible rate than 8-10miles every time!
I am also worried that I am not leaving myself enough time to do sufficient training for FLM. I know I CAN get round - because I have done it before - but I sooo want to do it BETTER than I did it before.
I am therefore going to "do a becky" and for the next week or so, am going to do two shorter runs a day - one in the morning, and one in the evening - they may only be 3-4 miles each, but that way I can break in my trainers, get my feet used to running again, get my milage back up a bit, and, more importantly, feel a bit more in control again.
I am not a great "morning" person, but if I am only doing 3 miles before work, that only means getting up an extra half hour early, which is not really going to be a problem.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Tues20/1 3 x 1 Mile Intervals (6:08, 6:13, 6:17) (Average 6:13) (Pulse 128)
Weds21/1 10 Miles 1:25:09 (8:31/mile) (Pulse 104)
Thurs22/1 Rest Day
Fri23/1 10K 52:06 (8:24/mile) (Pulse 102)
The next 2 significant targets are to try to achieve a sub 20:00 5K in the morning and a sub 40:00 10K next Sunday.
Both will be tough, especially while in the middle of full training, but if achieved, or even if just missed, will show that everything is nicely on target!:D
Hypno - Glad to hear the feet are starting to feel better.
Geoffro and Pepper - Welcome along, running is a great help to both sorting out debt and sorting out too much beer consumption so you're in the right place!:D
Becky - Sounds like another gentle jaunt to work. That twingy thing is age catching up with you, it shows that you're not a yoooff any more!:p
Good luck to everyone else running today - it might be unpleasant weather for normal people, but for running its perfect!:DGt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Hey Hypno - my only advice for twice a day is - your running more miles on colder muscles so start off very slowly and ease into a nice pace - I've had to accpet my training runs (i.e. slow days) are at a much slower pace than usual, but so far its been great to get out twice a day
Well Geoffro - I would start with a 3-4 mile brisk walk a few times a week for a few weeks if i were you rather than trying to dive straight back into running - have fun whatever you decide and remember to take it easy0 -
Geoffro, we all started somewere, stopping the drinking will greatly help your running cos running drunk is not the way forward!LOL
Once you start the fitness training and getting the buzz from the endorphines you wont need the drink anywere as much as you used to. Trust me I used to enjoy a drink 3/4/5 bottles of larger a night sometimes abottle of wine. But now that iv started running properly i find that i dont have the time to drink and hate the feeling i get when i get up after drinking and i enjoy a nice pint of juice and cup of coffee after my runs a lot more now.
Just dont go hell for leather at first on the running otherwise you wont get to enjoy it and may injury yourself, which could lead back to the bottle.

Hi Geoffro,
Thats exactly what we want - out of breath is good (means you're putting in work) but walking is much less stress on the joints and muslces than running - so you're still burning fat but minimising the risk of injury0
