How did you get Lance Armstrong to go out with you? I thought he was doing his comeback race in Australia? He obviously thought your session was more important!
Yeah, he could see how much help I needed! LOL Its like care in the community:rotfl:0 -
Oh in that case can I have Ronaldo to help with my shooting skills - I have a few things I could teach him in return?0

Evening all.
Well i managed to get out tonight, I thought that my circuit training at 2pm was good but didnt really take it out of my legs but i was obvoiusly wrong as half way round i didnt want to carry on. but i soldiered on and managed a time of 60.10 mins for 10km, so im happy with that as i wasnt clock watching and feeling a little bit tired and sore, not my best time but still a good time really.Running Club5KM - 25:20(51.21%) 10KM - 53:40(50.26%)1/2 Marathon - 2.14.57(44.20%)Marathon 5:11:00 (40.78%)0 -

Hi Pepper, Welcome to the running thread! No initiation into this club, relax. Just tell us what your goals are, and keep us posted on what you do. Are you already a runner or just wanting to start out? In either case there are people on the thread who will be at a similar stage to you. Some of us have races lined up, whilst others are aiming to run a mile, or 5k or whatever.
Rich is our coach-guru, and gives us all loads of good advice. If you are starting from scratch, he would probably advise a running programme with no running at first. It sounds strange but the best way to start off running is by walking. Once you have a base level of fitness, you can build up your running, by walking to warm up, then running a bit in the middle, then walking the rest. You'll soon build up to running further and before you know it you'll be running more than walking.

Hi Chickadee,
Thank you! I used to be into athletics & kickboxing but due to illness last year had to take it steady for a while but hey new year new start on all things so I;m ready to start afresh I guess. My fitness levels are drastically worse than they were much to my dismay but I'm looking forward to getting my health back and fitness up, on this basis any advice on how best to do it is very welcome. I guess on that basis my goals are to get my fitness levels up enough to run race for life again this year - maybe not as fast as I originally ran it but still one step at a time hey?!:hello:  Hoping to be down to Loan Only by Christmas:j Getting there! :T0 -
Hey Pepper and welcome! If you find a particular race for life you want to train for let us know and we'll see if we can work something out. How far do think you could run at the moment -1 block, 1 mile 2 or a bit more? Chick's right about the walking base - it really helps you step up the training later
Another footy fanatic Rahpael - but yes watch the knees - I also always managed to hurt mine in training. Enjoy your rest day today
Did an easy 4.5 today into work this morning and hopefully got the same home - feeling a bit twingy this morning (had slightly cramp which was forcing me off my usual stride slightly) but all good nonetheless
Happy running eveyone!0
