Oooo that is exciting Gillz!! Let us know how you get on0

Ooo the results have gone online now too
I was 452nd overall in the half of 994 finishers with a time of 1:56:11 - which would be under 1:56 if we had had chip timing so thats good!
And 44th female!!!!
Rich was 106th in the Marathon out of 634 finishers with a time of 3:24:17 - wow! And was 27th in his age category (although they've put him in the wrong one as it happens I've put him back in the V40 category and not the V45!!!)

Well done Gillz. Good luck with your run. Since I started my walking and stepping 5 weeks ago I've gone down a dress size so I'm dead chuffed. My teenage daughters don't want me to run in public as it would be too embarrassing (I'm obese). I'll continue with the Wii until my daughters go back to school and nursery.0

Good on you:T I was obese 9 months ago. Now I'm not and its all down to taking up running and altering my diet. Keep at it even when it gets tough and you'll get the results. I'm back in the normal weight range now for my height and age:D
I don't run fast either just 9 to 10 min miles over 4 to 6 miles, 4 or 5 times a week. Sometimes just do a 2 mile circuit at my best effort(usually 8 min mile but can sometimes get it better:o) if I'm short on time or am on unsociable shifts like nights/half nights.
Besides being a DFW its the cheapest sport I could do now I'm sort of addicted. Still never been in better shape for a long long time wish i'd taken it up a long time ago.0 -
Ooooo I like my new running shorts - go legs!!!

And I might look tired here (stitch) but I took these two guys on the last 100m:

Hehe But those 2 guys weren't supposed to be there! Look at their numbers!
They have messed the results up because the one wearing 506 has come up as Helen Clark, presumably the person who was really issued with that number!
They shouldn't have gone through the finish!!!
But how do you manage to raise a smile on all these photos? Not trying hard enough?:p:p;)
Its good to see that of the 634 finishers in the marathon that just over 50% were under 4 hours and 90% under 5 hours - it just shows that there are still plenty people willing to put in the training for decent times if the races are there to take part in!:D:D
I like this photo - this was my expression at 20 miles after having just run within 10 metres of the finish but facing the final 10k loop! I dont look too impressed.:p:p

Me too! Obese less than 9 months ago (about 4 stones heavier than now).
Thanks for reminding me, it makes me look at the pictures finishing the marathon on Sunday in a different light!:D
So, Rachel, as long as you view the 'project' as being over a few months you will reach whatever size you fancy!Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

I know they decided not to run the second lap (been out on the beers I think) but were told to run through the finish - hope that girl was happy with her time
Been out for a FANTASTIC run this evening - 13 miles but it was soooo easy and I pushed in the last three miles and got home in 2:09 including pit stops (twice) and stopping for lights - but it was easy which is great after a race weekend because it means two things:
1. My body is adapting well
2. I didnt run at full pace on sunday (as suspected from the breezy photos) and there is plenty more in the tank
Whoop whoop - I love it when a plan comes together0 -
That is extremely promising - full recovery from a half marathon in 48 hours and pretty much able to repeat the performance.:D:D
These midweek half marathons seem to be suiting you nicely. The higher mileage from a few weeks ago is now starting to reap benefits so enjoy your new level of (well earned) fitness!:D:D

My neck hurts - damn you physio!!!
Gives new meaning to the phrase "no pain, no gain" I suppose
But I am ready for my mega high milage week next week - ok, so it is high milage on skis, but who caresSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
I know - I can tell I am recovering well because my body is craving lots and lots of veggies and not sugar - i.e. its stopped needing extra calories to fuel my runs - hence why I've lost more weight in the last week - yippee0
