Not sure what my excuse is then (tee hee) re sun and times
Nah rusty I think you've prepared really well - no fuss and just got on with it - good luck for London and enjoy your tapering
Whatatwit - you can always come and support the fleetwood one later in the year if you're nearby0 -
Well done everybody on their runs. I'm so envious but determined to get there. I did my first run with my daughter on the Wii. The girls begged me not to embarrass them by running outside. Also did a 5 mile walk with my daughter yesterday.0

Well done rich and becks you both have gotten on really well.
I went out on sunday morning and did a steady 5.25 miles, was really good as it was with the guys im going to run the marathon with so it was nice to have a chat as i ran round for a change. managed it in 49.06mins so very happy to get it around the 9.30min mile, this is the first week on my training program as well so hopefully i can stick to it.
Rachel dont worry about embarrising your daughters, they wont be saying that when your super fit and running rings around them. The running on the Wii is good for getting a sweat on , so good on you for starting but id suggest to just get out, you will see alsorts of people out running dont feel embarresed at all.Running Club5KM - 25:20(51.21%) 10KM - 53:40(50.26%)1/2 Marathon - 2.14.57(44.20%)Marathon 5:11:00 (40.78%)0 -

Yeah considering the winner was over in 1:15, 56mins would be pretty amazing0

This is an interesting list of road marathons being run in the early 90s in the Yorkshire/Lancashire (roughly) region:
Horsforth
Stockport
Bradford
Manchester
Sheffield
North Tyneside
Wear Valley
Wirral
Rotherham
Great Northern (Scarborough)
Mersey
Humber Charity
Cumbria Lakes
Macclesfield Silk
Chesterfield
Leeds
Barnsley
That's 7 in Yorkshire, 2 in Leeds alone. there's currently not a single road marathon in Yorkshire and only Blackpool in Lancashire (which wasnt around in the early 90s).
Now that Blackpool has gone as well, that leaves another newbie, Fleetwood as the sole representative. Or at least it looks that way - looking through the list I cant think of any that are still running.
And yet these races used to be filled with people who only a fraction will get into London each year.
A sad demise which has apparently been driven by Sunday opening of shopping areas, traders have more sway over councils than race organisers in terms of road closures.
Ah well.........Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Is it just me - cant there be earlier starting races??
Some of the ones in London over the summer start at 7am - which is fine if you are local - which is what they cater too...
Where do all the people run their marathon times now anyway?? Europe or just do less or what??0 -
Rich could you add mine on to the list please 18th september USAF marathon. Cheers
Its such a shame about the lack of marathons now, id have been able to try most of them as thats the part of the world that i come from.Running Club5KM - 25:20(51.21%) 10KM - 53:40(50.26%)1/2 Marathon - 2.14.57(44.20%)Marathon 5:11:00 (40.78%)0
