  • Hi guys, sorry i've been MIA for nearly a week now, haven't done any training since last wednesday :(

do you remember the dreaded lurgy which lingered for almost 3 weeks????

well on thursday night i came down with a sticker of a cough! i was up all night, just hacking away, but it was a really nasty dry cough that just wouldn't stop. So friday morning came and i got myself to the docs as during the day it had gotten to the point that i was coughing so hard i needed to purchase tena ladies :embarasse and then started being sick.

GP said it was a nasty infection as an encore from the lurgy, but that it was just a dry rattle, dished out the antibiotics and an inhaler to keep the tubes open.

I then spent all weekend bringing up what can only be described as raw eggwhites! (a la Ron Weasley bringing up slugs in HP2), dry rattle my backside!!!!!

So spent monday in bed after being up all night being sick, finally got to the docs yesterday and was told i had tonsilitis, and a whacking great cheast infection, that my lungs are only half empty, and theres still more egg whites to come  This makes it an entire month now that i have been suffered with some variation of snot producing virus/bacteria/alienlifeforms!!!

So for my breakfast this morning i took NINE tablets!!!! 6 of them were steroids, and the others were antibiotics the size of small countries!

I have never needed a holiday more in my entire life!!!!

  • Pink well done on the smoking that will help the running once you get back to full health. Hope the slugs dont cause you too much problems and that the tablets start to work soon and you can get back on the road.

JJ - I'll work on one in a bit for you - what time are running 10 miles in now to give me an idea??

Do you do speedwork at the moment?

You'll only need to train 5 days a week to start with anyway - which day do you prefer for your long run?

Hope you feel better soon Pink - and YUCK by the way!

Oh and its the 1st of April so those of us doing the yearly challenge can you post or pm me with your Qtr1 totals please

I'm on 530 miles this qtr which is a little behind my target of 625 - but I loaded it towards the end of the year when I'll be into training weeks of about 60-70 miles...still we've had 14 weeks of this year so my average is under 40 miles at 38 - which means I need to up the tempo a bit to get to 2500 by December 31st :D
  • Becks iv run the 10 miles in around the 1hr 50 mark not done one for a while. I would prefer thursday to be my long run day. Cheers for doing that, your a gem.

Im well down on my total only managed 76.6/250 this quarter  but this will increase as my training takes a really go now iv got a date to train towards.

And iv managed to get my self some new trainers and it was very MSE as they were given to me to trial during my training for the marathon heres the link http://www.ukgear.com/shop/mens-trainers/1/pt-03-nc-road-and-trail-running-shoe/6

Going to play 5 a side now so should be a nice little bit of speed work. Iv never really done any speed work except to do the bleep test, so i wouldnt mind trying it to see how much that improves my times.

Have fun at footy - when you get a mo PM me your email addy and I'll pop the plan over the evening.

If you want to be near three you'll need to do speed work, nearer 4 hours and you'll get away with less - I'll do a plan for 3:30 and you can always re-work a bit later in the year if you fancy :D

EDIT: I added you're miles to the sheet - you're 12% into the year's target!

Phew :) glad thats over... another tough run, but I kept the leg lift as low as possible and got round 9 miles in 1:42 on a sub 80 pulse and walked another mile to try to ease out the legs some more...

This is actually good news because what's happening is my main quad muscles are very tired but supplementary leg muscles are kicking in to help with the work and this helps your body if you hit the wall during the marathon because you know your other muscles can carry you for a little while at least...

So all in all still feeling good this week despite the stiffness - didnt see any parrots today in the park though :(

    Happy running all :D

    Mon30/3 Rest Day
    Tues31/3 Rest Day
    Weds1/4 Race: Spencers Dash 3.7 24:44 (6:41/mile)

Just back from tonight's race. It forms part of a series of 6 throughout the summer months and is a real test of fitness being hilly.

Happy enough with the time and it feels good to stretch the legs again after 2 rest days.:D

    4 Days To Marathon Day

Well done, Becky - 36.5 miles in 4 days. You'll be really strengthening up all the connective tissues and secondary muscles with that kind of work. You should feel good by the weekend.:D :D
