Hi everyone,
I'm slowly getting back into my running, thankfully. I didn't do the Coniston 14 this weekend, which I had planned to do. I have wasted so much this year on aborted race entry fees  .
I re-started, having done nothing at all for a week, doing 6m on Saturday, 8.6m on Sunday and 6.6 yesterday. Times were around the 9:15 mark for each run. I'm also quite pleased to have discovered the benefits of sorbothanes. (Yes, I know - slow on the uptake) but they really are fantastic! So, this week I'm planning to do a full week's training. (6, 10, 8, 16) No blood test results yet, but it does seem that doc was right about the after-effects of the virus as I'm feeling great after my enforced rest.
Anyway, still plenty of time for me to get some miles in before Prague so hopefully I'll be OK and get round in a respectable time. Many of you will be tapering soon and I'll just be hitting my peak training  .
Great running everyone. Rich - are you climbing the walls yet? I thought about coming over to Blackpool to cheer you and Becky on but DS has a football match so unfortunately I won't be able to. Good luck to both of you!Sealed Pot Challenge #8 £341.90

Hi Chick,
Great to see you
Oooo nice mileage there and glad to hear you're enjoying it again - I think a few who pop in occassionally are doing Edinburgh (Pania and Chris) so they will be on peak miles too
(and I'm in NY post marathon so the thread will be dead anyway)
Shame you cant make it Sunday - would have been great to see you!
Its always a pain when you have to lose your fee - I lost mine at Aldi and was more annoyed about the £20 down the drain than missing the race I think, are there any cheap local ones you can do to make up??
Happy running anyway0 -
Hi Chick,
A bit of rest and you're feeling great - its usually the recipe so great to see you're back in the swing of things and enjoying yourself once more.:D
Glad the Sorbothanes are helping - the real benefits are longer term when you realise that you haven't been injured for a long while!:D
Plenty time to Parague - best part of 6 weeks yet so a final push for the next 4 weeks or so should see you in fine shape.
And no, funnily enough I'm not climbing the walls at all - feeling quite relaxed and content at the moment. I was going to do a 14 miler today to stretch the legs, but a slight change of plans means that I have cancelled that in favour of racing tomorrow - a 3.7 mile hilly dash around Barnsley, the first in a series of 6 during the summer evenings.
It would have been great to see you again on Sunday, but thanks for the encouragement anyway!:DGt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Its interesting seeing pics from races.
This one coming into the finish for Sunday's 39:17 10K clearly shows that there is still plenty weight to come off to be in the same shape as the two guys who came in shortly after (in the other pics). In fact I look positively porky, and yet in normal day to day stuff I feel positively slim, in fact I have very few clothes that still fit!:p
So hopefully that weight will come off over the following few months to give a bit more time gain.:DGt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Nice pics all the same - I look porkie in comparison to my surrounds too which is interesting - we must be doing something right if we're getting into those territories while carrying extra weight
Ooo this evening's run was roughSunday very much still in the legs - in fact when I started it felt like I just carried on from 17.5 miles!! Anyway got through 10.3 miles of roughness and then gave up in 1:50 - thats 10:30 minute miling and having to work every step of the way too - but never mind its good to get that out of the way and means a good one to come from Sunday
Oh and I couldnt see you Rich because I was looking at these photos:

Sounds like a gutsy run tonight.
Nothing surprising there though in terms of heavy legs 48 hours after a hilly 17.5 miler, so as you say its nothing to be concerned about and you can now look forward to Sunday.
Yep, the pics are good in the respect that you can clearly see where plenty future improvement can come from. I cant recall you looking porky compared to those around you though!:rolleyes:Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Awww you always say that but there's a reason why running gear is made down to UK size 4 - cause runners is skinny - I am a curvy girl (which I love by the way) so I always look a little 'bigger' than those around me in their size 4 gear0

becky, if you think you look big compared with those around you, then spare a thought for those of use who really ARE overweight........:oSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. Great photos Rich and Becky; it's always nice to see others in action!!
Good to see that you are recovering from your virus Chick; fingers crossed the rest of the weeks training goes to plan.

Nice work, Simply.
You seem to be running these fartleks pretty well - what length are your 'efforts' roughly now?Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j
