Gosh Alias I admire your determination for getting out there and running that 10k with the odds stacked against you like that.
Running with a hangover? Yuk, I'm afraid that alcohol is not my friend and I would struggle with a training run let alone a race. I think you deserve a medal for managing to finish.
Look on the bright side though - just think how much your time will improve in your next 10k race.2021 MFW No.18 £9900/£10,000Mortgage at 21.07.20 £178,999 Mortgage today £150,8910 -
Well done Alias for finishing and you're only 3 minutes off a nice sub 60 ten k so next time you'll smash through that
Sorry it was so rubbish though - no beers the night before a race please
Simply - its okay to use running to work off a hangover in a long training run, but in races because you are really pushing the body it iften leads to you being sick - yuck!0 -
What a build up to a race Alias!!
If there is one positive, I suppose at least you were passing people throughout your run so that must have felt good.
Sub 60 is certainly on the cards when circumstances go in your favour!:DGt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

I am still pink!!!
But on the good news front - my leg aches a little but no major soreness which is great news - rest day today though and a 13 miler tomorrow (or possibly an interval session not sure yet!)
Happy running all!0 -
Hi all, lets are a little sore today, mainly as i did not stretch off at the end, but walked about a mile to get to the car, then did some later that day.
Chest area is still hurting, cant really lift anything on the left arm without causing pain, coughing, laughing, breathing deep causes pain. No chance to see doctor till i head to work tomorrow. Dont have a local doctor, and no chance of getting an appointment there even if i did.
Wife said A&E, but they will just tell me i have bruised my ribs etc.
No heavy lifting for me for a few days, guess it will be light duties and alot of sitting around doing nothing.0 -
Sorry you're a bit sore Alias
Chest wise - that could be a pulled muscle or bruised ribs or a bit of both - so definitely best to get it checked out by the work's doctor - but can you pop to an NHS walk in centre today? You dont need to be registered for those!0 -
Doctors in the morning, only thing is that the doctors is 39miles away.

No running to report so all I can say is that the first pasta meal of the week was absolutely yummy!:p
Anyone know what the weather is likely to be doing in Blackpool on Sunday?

I missed my bus home so got back late.......I was hoping to do 8 ish miles before it got dark, but due to the missed bus I only managed 6.7 before it was too dark to go round the lanes. But it only took me 68 mins and didn't feel too bad, so I am happy with that.
No problems with my back either, so good stuff there!
Alias - good luck with getting yours sorted.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
I cant wait to be carbing up for London
Um I think the forecast is good for all week - getting cooler towards the weekend with a risk of a shower/cloudy sky, but the two fronts shown on the iso charts could well collide further west and clear out to sunny before Sunday (in which case it will be about 8-10 degrees - very similar to this weekend), chances of it being awful are slim unless the two fronts meet on sunday itself, but even then I dont think prolonged showers are too likely from the pressure charts. In summary most likely is cool, overcast with some sunny breaks and a coastal breeze = perfect marathon weather0
