Rich yesterdays run was a bit disapointing...prepared for my nice easy 20 miler. Went out didn't notice the wind and set off...nice easy pace (well I thought it was an easy pace) got to mile 9 to turn around to head back and I had been running at 10.09 min/miles  then I had the most strongest headwind ever...blimey that was hard work. Then I got the most incredible indigestion (note to self never to drink lucozade sport...could be a problem for FLM as thats what they give out) from lucozade sport and was in so much pain that I had to stop around mile 15 to walk home..still the overall pace for return journey was 13 something min/m. So although not the 20 run, the legs were fine and could have happily walked/run another 6 miles
I'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....

Well done sally - we will get round that 26.2 for sure!

I finally did a run - but once again, the weather conditions were absolutely foul. Driving rain and very gusty wind. I did 5.5 miles, quite easily......had the weather been just a little less horrid I would have carried on, but instead I will head out again tomorrow - the main thing is that I didn't have any back problems, and I didn't feel hindered by my lack of running over the past 10 days, so that is most encouraging for the next couple of weeks.

I am aiming for my 20 miles next weekend, so I just want to spend this week doing easyish runs as and when, just to get my legs ready for my final attempt at the 20.

Good luck to anyone getting out there this weekend, whether racing or training - I hope the weather eases up soon!!!

A blustery race this morning as expected. The course record holder decided to have another crack at breaking his own record but just failed managing 'only' 15:28 compared to the record of 15:18. Very impressive to watch the attempt though!

Becky held back a bit today to look after the leg, which is being eased back to full health, but still ran 25:24 against a best of 24:38.

Sally - Sounds like you had a real toughie yesterday, but if it left you feeling as though you were strong enough to do the full 20 then that will all help with the mental preparation for tackling the full distance, so another positive step in the right direction.:D

Hypno - Glad to hear the back is holding up so well and there is no re-emergence of the troublesome blisters, it looks like you're going to be nicely back to full health perfectly in time for FLM.

For anyone still planning on going out running today, you would probably be well advised not to bother brushing your hair before setting off.:p

Just back from this morning's race which was actually run in perfect conditions, sunny and cool, which was a very pleasant surprise considering the winds of the last few days.:D

This was mainly a test to see how the tapering is working towards next week's marathon. The first 5k was approx 19:15, which is actually the quickest 5k so far, and the overall 10k bettered the previous best of 40:34 at Dewsbury. So very delighted!:D :D:D

    7 Days To Marathon Day!!!

Becky is currently lounging around building up to her hilly 20 miles in a short while - a tough challenge, but we'll see how it goes later on.

Happy runs for everyone today!! Those marathons are getting ever closer!:D :D

Good luck, Simply - ease into it and you should be fine going by how you coped with the 6 last week.:D

  • :j :j :j I'm back :j :j :j

    8.61 miles (slightly misjudged the distance), 01:29:03 (10:19/mile) :D:D

The weather was perfect for running today; I went out very slowly and tried to keep a steady pace. It felt really good and, even though mile 6-7 was a long gradual incline, I felt that I could have gone on for longer at the end.

I can't believe how comfortable it felt; I'm soooooo happy with that. :j

Wow, Simply - That's a big jump in distance percentage wise, nearly 9 miles!!

And a good pace - if you felt comfortable with that run then you're obviously a natural at this game.:D :D

Becky has just arrived back from her long run - the main aim was to get all the tough hills done and the good news is that she managed to achieve it.

So 17.5 miles with 1,390ft of ascent and 1,390ft of descent!!!!!!

Overall time 2:49:36 giving a pace of about 9:40/mile.:T :T

It was done in strong sunshine so she looks something like an overcooked beetroot at the moment.:p :p

She is absolutely buzzing with that and filled with renewed optimism for FLM in 4 weeks.:D :D:D
