Ooo I am all excited about running now - I had a great run last night despite the hills and a bit of pain - I'm hoping for 3:45 still but it is going to be tight I think - we'll see how the half goes next weekend and take it from there...got a 20 miler this weekend as well as the 5k on Saturday so must remember to take it very slowly so I dont tire before the half :D

Just a thoughy Rich - should peeps who haventgot any more races run one 13 mile training run as if it was race to practice timings etc and get a feel for their pace??

I have re-jigged my schedule.....I only have 2 weekends left because I am away skiing before FLM.....

so, this weekend is a gentle jogging weekend.....see how it goes, and just get back into it.

The 5th april I have earmarked for my 20 miles. If it doesn't go according to plan, then so be it -I have done my 18.5 so I am not going to stress over it, although I would like to do it for confidence sake.

Then I am away on 10th, back on 19th (but travelling by bus over night, so probably unlikely to be fit for anything other than bed when I get back) and it is FLM the following week!

Suddenly it has all got very close  :D

I'm with you, Sally.....aiming for 4 hours 59 mins 59 seconds  , but as long as I get my medal, I will be happy!

Hi there, another update from me. GP doesn't think I'm anaemic. (Hypno - he checked inside my lower eyelids ;) ) but has arranged for me to have a blood test to rule it out, along with anything else. He thinks it is more likely still the residual effects of the bad cold virus I had two weeks ago. Whilst I'm feeling generally OK, when I try to push it on a long run, my body says 'Oh no you don't I'm not better yet!' If I wasn't training I probably wouldn't even notice it. He advised rest, light training only, a healthy diet and plenty of fluids and if anything untoward should come back from the blood test we can sort it out once we know the cause.

I didn't do anything last night, so after my blood test (tomorrow am) I'll have a gentle run and see how far I get. I'll run very slowly and just run as I feel.

I'm sort of resigned to plodding round Prague and just enjoying the view! I haven't even got one 20-miler in yet (17 miles longest run to date) and with this interruption to my training at this critical point, I really think my sub-4 plan is out of the window this time round. Never mind, there's always Abingdon....

Yep I've rejigged mine so now it looks like:
    This week: m=rest, t=13, w=6.2, th=13, f=rest, s=5-6 (5k race and warm up), su=20 = 58 ish
    Next week: rest, 13, 6.2, 13, 10, rest, 13(race) = 55 ish
    Week after: rest, 13, 6.2, 13, rest, 5-6, 20 = 58ish
    Week after (tapering wk1): rest, 10, 6.2, 10, rest, 5-6, 13 = 44 ish
    Marathon week (tapering w2): 2, rest, 2, rest, 2, rest 26.2 = 32.2

I'm trying to get 2 rest days a week because of the sore leg so that means running longer distances in the week - but actually I dont mind this at all - I just have to remember to take them very slowly so I'm not getting to tired and eats lot iron after my vitamin C tablet :D

What date is your marathon, chick - you still have a few weeks left and with sensible milage (not going too far too soon) you will be able to get that 20 miles in, I am sure!

It is obviously just a case of listening to your body. My body just says "you're not bloody Paula Radcliffe you know"......... swiftly followed by "are you sure you won't have another coffee before you go out"...........

You have done a heck of a lot of good solid running, though, in recent weeks, so I am very sure you won't be far off that sub-4........

He he, yes my body says the Paula thing too. :rotfl: My marathon is on 10th May so I have a couple of weeks longer than if I was doing FLM to get some more solid runs in the bag. I haven't given up, I just need TLC, which is nice, except for the little voice saying "You should be running."

I have to say, its really exciting hearing you talk about London marathon day, which start you are at, where you are staying, etc.etc. Its such a brilliant experience I'm sure you'll all really enjoy it.

Rich add 1 more with an injury.

Was 11 miles in when left Achilles tendon felt painful. Over stretched I think. New route, slightly softer underfoot I think has caused it. Now doing the RICE.

Was hoping to do 18 today, I'm starting to panic now. Wanted to get a 20 in before tapering down, I can't see that happening now.

Hi Rusty how long is your taper?? I'm only doing 2 weeks and getting in two 20s before then - so you should be fine to get one in the week of 11th April...

It is always a good idea to get a distance run of 13+ miles in at pace in the last 4 weeks to take away a few of the unknowns.

It is usual to do this in a race to get used to the race day routine as well, but failing that a time trial is a good second best.:D

11 Days To Marathon Day !!!

Now that the 'hump' of the training is finished and the tapering down to marathon day is underway it is becoming evident each day how the strength is building up.

    This is a very enjoyable phase!!:D :D
